The one thing I dislike about the show is the amount of killing. It seems that the prisoners are always plotting to knock someone off. It just seems so much more than what would happen at a regular prison but then again, what do I know about prison life?

I think the next series I'll watch will be Homicide: Life on the Streets.
I think you're pretty spot on. My father was a correctional officer at a prison and there were not very many over his career (25+ years).

Homicide: LotS is excellent.

Almost done with My Name is Earl. Its a solid show about a nobody that is really enjoyable and kinda clever. Jason Lee has gone a long way from his woman hating Sega.

Super shame Earl was cancelled as it had a lot of gas left in the tank. I wouldn't want an animated version, but I promise you it would make an amazing comic, especially considering the established characters. Comic book Randy would be a blast to write.

Coincidentally, I watched a Dinner For Five (google if you don't know it) with Kevin Smith, Jason Lee, Stan Lee, J.J. Abrams, and Mark Hamill last night. It was a bit weird to know that JJ and Hamill's paths would cross again in the future in a big way, and neither knew about it at the time.

And although I knew Lee auditioned for Mallrats for shits and giggles, but I didn't know he originally auditioned for the role of TS. I still find it hard to believe Lee is into Scientology; he seems so level headed.

Well, as crazy as Scientology is, at least the followers aren't all as insane as Tom Cruise. Take John Travolta for instance. Battlefield Earth aside, if you didn't know he was a Scientologist, you wouldn't be able to tell.

I think a lot of people are part of the Church of Scientology for the same reason they're part of the SAG ... they sort of have to be. It's also one of the few support structures in Hollywood that won't bail on you as long as you support them. So, it makes sense. I doubt the majority of people part of it actually believe in it, Tom Cruise withstanding.

That's the way I see it. The number of people who actually believe in the religion they are a part of in this world is small I think. You just join because it's what people around you are a part of, and apparently a lot of actors are scientologists.

You think about how many people in this country go to church on Sundays and then spend the week treating people like crap. Do they really believe in their religion?

Yep. Do you think following a religion is an easy thing, or what? It's a lot easier to just not care and live your life the easiest way you see fit than it is to study and follow a religion. And religious people do bad things too, nobody religious claims to be perfect, it's supposed to be a work in progress.

Now just to make things clear, though, I'm not a Scientologist.

I always thought about becoming a scientologist as more of getting sponsored by a corporation rather than joining a religion.

John Travolta is a complete whack-o.

A close friend of mine swore that the church of scientology is an organization that provides alternate lives for their members. This friend passed away a few years ago, but he told some crazy stories; all of them turned out to be true. He was positive that one of the church's functions is to provide gay men with wives to hide their homosexuality from the public.

Back on topic: Married With Children, last few seasons aside, is one of the best sitcoms of all time.
