Wait, was that at the dam? I don't think I even bother wasting ammo on that helicopter anymore. I shot it down in Black Mesa, but in the original HL, I just say screw it and run.

This game has been completed. I thought I had another level to go, but once I saw it was the end I kept on playing. Being a fan of FPS about as much as I am of shmups, I've seen my share of final bosses in these types of games being pretty much a hero vs enemy, one on one sort of thing. Big room, tons of ammo, and the player just has to move around to avoid getting killed. This encounter *started* like that, but I'm not gonna spoil it from there. It was a very unique final experience for sure (also a heck of a lot easier than MOH European Assault, the last FPS I beat). The ending too, also interesting.

I'll admit when this game first came out, I didn't think much of it, because I thought it would have been like every other FPS pouring out of the late 90s. But, this one forced me to re-think what an FPS can be. There was a lot of story, a lot of immersion, a lot more interactions with the environment, a lot more running and jumping, and a lot more of everything that any other FPS around the time was *not* doing, and as I said earlier this month, I would not be surprised if many other games that came out just after this one took design cues from H-L. It was a great month, and to play and own a piece of history (in-box!) is nice.

Now this means, anyone who needs help with the last few parts, I'm available :lol:

I just finished Opposing Force for the first time. The ending was a bit 'meh', hopefully there is some form is answer as to what happened to Shepherd in the future, but considering how long it is taking to find out about Freeman, I won't hold my breath.

The game itself brought some new things to the table and I enjoyed playing through it, it's short length felt about right (5 hours according to Steam to finish it) and I felt it was much more puzzle originated than action when compared to the original Half Life. It was also much more engaging and entertaining than Blue Shift was.

Overall I am glad I finished it, now I can say I have finished all the Half Life games, yay!

No the dam was a while ago.
Is it the courtyard that you're referring to then, with the circling helicopter dropping soldiers by rope?

It's not a helicoptor, it's an Osprey, a tiltrotor aircraft.

At any rate, that second helicopter, I just ran by it. You're coming up on a part where you'll be reloading nearly all your weapons, and be thankful for that.

I've already made it past that courtyard part, yes. Decided to just run past it. I'm on to the chapter Forget About Freeman now.
