On permadeath the computer's strategy becomes "let's see if I can kill one of your guys and force you to restart the chapter, muwahahaha"

That sounds like that Persona shit. I can't think of anything more boring or more likely to make me want to stop playing.
Have you ever played Persona or just had it described to you? I thought that it sounded awful too and then I spent 100+ hours on P4.

Personally I don't think things in FE:A change enough after Chapter 5 that if you don't like it now, will convert you.

Short answer, yes. VCII's story is definitely weak. It makes me sad that VCIII didn't come over, since it's supposed to have a much better story plus all the additions VCII had.
There's a fan translation in the works for VCIII, right?

I'm still on VC1. Chapter 14, I'm getting close.

I want to try out VC2, but I'm kinda bracing myself for disappointment.
Well, I just beat VCII's main story. Clocked in at 55 hours, including almost all the extra missions. Tons of new content opens up at the end. MrPopo, did you play the post-game missions? They look really good. Maybe I'll come back to this game in a few months!

AppleQueso, I really enjoyed this game - just go for the gameplay and you will not be disappointed. All the new classes and game mechanics work really well. There's a lot more variety.

That said, I did like the story. The plot was bare-bones and senseless, but a few scenes with the main characters are brilliant. Random day-to-day events can be hilarious and I ended up liking everyone I unlocked Memories for.

VCIII translation is making good progress: http://vc3translationproject.wordpress.com/

Wish I could say the same for the Suzumiya Haruhi PSP game...

I've played some of the post game content, but I don't remember how much; it's been quite some time since I've played the game.

18 hours into Soul Hackers. Lvl40. That last dungeon took a while! But very fun. Finally got one street pass.

I waited way too long to get into the Persona games, but when I did I felt so stupid for doing so. And now as a result I've become extremely interested in SMT as a whole!

I'll be started Soul Hackers today or tomorrow, listened to the soundtrack in the car yesterday and it got my pumped. XD

I put Fire Emblem aside and am finally trying Torchlight. It's fun but easy (playing as a warrior on normal) so far. I'll likely dive into the sequel for my next RPG.

Seems for the best. I think Torchlight is right up your alley and seems a lot like old school Diablo. I enjoyed what I played, but eventually got bored of it. Someone gifted me Torchlight II, but I haven't popped it in yet.

Torchlight is awesome. I've been thinking of checking out the sequel for some time, but we didn't get a physical released in the US. :?
