Another thing I do like about 360 is the custom soundtracks that are standard across all games. You can make a playlist of mp3s to stream from your network or off a thumbdrive or ipod or whatever in the dashboard. When you start a game it knows you're listening to custom music so it automatically cuts off it's own music and leaves the effects up. It pauses your music during cut scenes, etc. This is a required standard for 360 games so they all support it. You can pull up the guide in-game and change the relative volume, skip a track, whatever.
The other night I played Puzzle Quest with a shuffled soundtrack of music from various Final Fantasy, Castlevania, and Zelda games. Way cool.
that is extremely cool - id love if in GTAIV you could replace the radio stations, they are all completely mundane.

You only think the GTAIV radio stations are mundane because you don't listen to the classic rock station. It's got Joe Walsh.
I will admit, though, that the custom playlists are a very nice feature of the 360. Although personally I feel a custom playlist is really only good for games where music is designed to be background noise, like UT. But I've found most of the games I play I'd rather listen to the in-game tracks.

I would like custom sound tracks if I had more than 20 gigs. Right now I have less then 300 mbs. I need to delete some demos.

So no dashboard song integration in GTA IV?

Don't forget that the 360 version of Team Fortress 2 is also poorly optimized and has received none of the patches the PC version received.ZeroAX wrote:lol guy's an idiot. The orange box is the best example of "DON'T BUY FPS ON CONSOLES IF THEY CAME OUT ON THE PC". you have to pay to play it online and have to pay for the free extra maps and weapons.

Eh. If you're not a PC gamer it's still incredible to have HL2, Ep1, Ep2 and Portal on a single disc. I don't much care about TF2. I'm sure it's good, but the other titles still make it a worthy purchase.GSZX1337 wrote:Don't forget that the 360 version of Team Fortress 2 is also poorly optimized and has received none of the patches the PC version received.ZeroAX wrote:lol guy's an idiot. I don't think anyone's running down that aspect of it. It's just that if you have a PC capable of running the Orange Box, you'd be doing yourself a disservice by getting it on a console, unless you have a large number of friends who also have it for the same console.RadarScope1 wrote:Eh. Again, because it needs to be said, the mod community on Half Life and Half Life 2 make it worth getting on PC. The mod community on Morrowind and Oblivion(and hopefully Fallout 3) make it worth getting on the PC.
In fact, mods are generally a factor in a decision to buy a game for me, because they will extend the life of a game considerably.
