Re: RPG Progress Report
You're right so far, this game is amazing! I just got to the part where Rowd tries to execute you, but Viktor and Flik save the day. The scene where Jowy's father disowned him punched me right in the feels lol. I'm guessing you lose Jowy at some point cause his untie attack with Riou is pretty broken, despite it being a lot like Kai and Tir's attack from the first one. Totally did way too much cheering when Viktor and Flik showed back up, kicking people's asses.Jmustang1968 wrote: Awesome, one of my favorite series. If you loved 1, then 2 will amaze you. 3 is also quite good. I wish I could turn back time to play all of those again for the first time lol.
On number 3, I've had it for years but have never been able to really get into it. But I also haven't tried it since like 2004, so I'm definitely ready to give it another shot.

I wish Suikoden 1 & 2 weren't so expensive. I really like IV and V.
Re: RPG Progress Report
I sit down and play a chapter or so of this at a time - I've been mostly unimpressed so far (I think I am on Chapter 5?). I don't see the appeal at all. Will things get good soon?Stark wrote:I've gotten further with Fire Emblem: Awakening. Chapter 16 I think, stuff has gotten really crazy.

Yeeeaaahhhh I was wondering the same thing. Fire Emblem is one of those "if you like the genre you'll like these games" kinda series in my mind.
Re: RPG Progress Report
Sometimes. I have enjoyed most of those I've spent this much time with (Tactics Ogre, Shining Force, Valkyria Chronicles, etc.)...so far this is chock full of very boring and obvious strategy and entirely uninteresting characters.AppleQueso wrote:Are you a fan of SRPGs in general?dsheinem wrote:I sit down and play a chapter or so of this at a time - I've been mostly unimpressed so far (I think I am on Chapter 5?). Awakening definitely suffers from being the most straightforward of the Fire Emblem games. Previous entries frequently featured more interesting level objectives and more interesting level design. Awakening focuses more on how you build your force, since there is a huge amount of customization. I'd also say the Paralogues are more interesting than the main story strategy-wise.dsheinem wrote:Sometimes. Re: RPG Progress Report
Yeah I'd agree. It seems that it doesn't really get challenging in the main storyline until about Chapter 11 or 12. I also agree that the Paralogue stories are more interesting especially later on, if you are doing the relationship stuff. Are you doing that Dave, making sure to pair up male/female characters a lot so they advance in relationship?MrPopo wrote:Awakening definitely suffers from being the most straightforward of the Fire Emblem games.
