While this would be functional, the video quality would pale in comparison to RGB. I would not go this route if you can avoid it. Unless of course you are on a tight budget.BitFaced wrote: And I'll ask again, is S-Video plus an S-Video adapter to VGA/Component/SCART/HDMI any good? If so please list what adapter I should use.
The Sync Strike takes the sync signal from your RGB source and cleans it up removing any potential distortions such as jailbars and the like. It can also boost the sync signal if it is weak. Some TVs will have issues displaying RGB if the sync signal is not clean. With a Sync Strike the simplest setup for your TV would be: PS1 > SCART cable > Sync Strike > VGA cable > TV.And how would a SCART cable + Sync Strike improve the image quality & would it work with my TV?
As for whether it would work on your TV...well...I suppose it would depend on how well your TV scales the image on its own. Most PS1 games run at 240p but there are a few that don't. If you ran into a problem with the Sync Strike and your TV, that is likely going to be the culprit. That is why I recommended taking a look at the SLG-in-a-box since it would handle the scaling. At least that is my understanding of it.
-New PS1 SCART cable out of the two listed by bmoc (does it matter which one?) + Sync
It probably won't matter which one unless you plan to use lightgun games. If that is the case then get the first one I listed.
I hope this helps. RGB can be confusing at times.
