I agree, I also find it uncomfortable to play. The DS wasn't perfect, but I loved playing GBA games on it because I got many of the benefits of the SP and in a more comfortable size.Key-Glyph wrote:All true. The GBA SP is actually FrontLit and the image quality isn't as good as say the GBA SP 2 is, so add that as another reason for detractors.
N64/NES/FC/SNES/SFC/GB (SGB)/GBC (Black)(SGB)/FDS/Satellaview/Genesis/Mega Drive/Master System & maybe N64DD/GBC/GBA.

I really didn't want to jump into the SP argument, but I love my AGS-101 (the brighter screen) -- it's just like playing the old school GB with the buttons where they *belong*.
Also loving how well the special transfer cable was integrated with Gamecube games.

K1 used to sell original GBAs clones pre-modded with a backlit screen, I believe. Which strikes me as the ideal solution. The only GBA stuff they do now is clone-SPs with an SD card function.

I prefer an AGS-100's warmer colors to the AGS-101's extra brightness.

Re: Do You Have Any Unpopular Gaming Opinions?
Gotta throw in my support for the GBA SP AGS#101. It's pretty much the only device I will play GB/GBC games on, and my preferred device for GBA games. I will say that it does get uncomfortable if you have to use the shoulder buttons a lot, especially if you have long fingers like I do. But other than that, the device is comfortable for me to use.
Playing GBA games on the DS Lite wouldn't be a problem for me, if I could use face buttons other than B/A, because playing games with the buttons positioned that way is......awkward isn't even the word I would use. "Annoying" and "hurts like a son of a bitch after 5 minutes" is more accurate. Oh and the face buttons could be a little bigger. I mean shit I could press the X/Y/A/B buttons with my thumb at the same time. Luckily the face buttons on the 3DS/XL are bigger.

Oh I just remembered a god awful opinion from Video Game Vault; they said Mickey Mania sucked, but to be fair it was the inferior SNES version and not, say, the PS1 version.

- COD is overrated, but they are still really good games at least from a console perspective. Plus what console FPS has as strong a community (i.e. the multiplayer won't die in 6 months) that's also a better game? Halo 4 where you run around with the battle rifle 80% of the time? No thanks.
- I have no idea why people like Super Smash Bros. aside from a ton of unlockables, which I'm a sucker for.
- Post-GameCube I think every Nintendo console and portable has been intriguing but ultimately a waste of money unless it's your only way to play games.
- I think Sega was a true innovator and the most ground breaking developer ever, even being a generation TOO far ahead with some of their games.
- The NFL2K series is far better than Madden, and.....wait for it.....it's not even close.
- I think FFXIII was really good and the combat was exactly the same as your standard RPG just innovated to make it real time. The numbers being calculated in the background are virtually the same and the only difference is it saves you time.
- Any game that doesn't have a save anywhere feature is sorely lacking and arguably unplayable IMO. I gave up on Dead Rising 2, GTAIV and even Mass Effect for this reason. I will not play a mission where I have to kill 50 enemies then a boss, die after killing 35 guys, and have to restart it completely all over again multiples times. I also will not play a game like Dead Rising 2 where you're encouraged to wander and get into trouble but there are only a few designated save points on the entire map. I'm playing The Suffering on the original Xbox right now and IT has a save anywhere feature. It's inexcusable not to have one. If a game is really in tune with when to allow you to save that is an exception, but it seems like it's just another thing developers are getting worse at. NOTE: I'm talking about this generation. Obviously I accept the challenge of an old school Mega Man or Ninja Gaiden.
