And now I can add Resident Evil Revelations to this thread. I'm very disappointed. I thought I'd like this one. RE 5, RE 6, and RE Revelations makes three strikes. I officially give up on this godforsaken franchise. It's every bit as shitty as those crap movies it keeps pumping out with Milla Jovovich.

Infamous may end up getting added to this list.
Such a shame, because I actually enjoyed playing it. I just don't have the time and there are better games to preoccupy my weekends. I'm going to try to squeeze in some game time this weekend, but if I don't... then it's probably getting thrown in my backlog, again.

I must admit, I'm sorry it took you this long. I gave up after RE5.

I heeded the warnings and avoided RE5 and everything after altogether. :P

Hell a good friend of mine, who's been a huge RE fan since the original game came out, has given up on it at this point.

This game ends really well. And it's not terribly long. I would definitely put the time in to finish it.

I think Chris Redfield is the kiss of death for this franchise. Things are all good until he comes into the picture. RE 4 with Leon = good. RE 5 with Chris = crap. Just as an example...

I played through the first chapter with Jill Valentine and thought, "this isn't so bad, kind of spooky, reminds me of Resident Evil 4". Then I get to chapter 2, realize that I'm playing as Chris with some bimbo sidekick, and immediately remember everything I hated about RE 5. And yet, I think, "I'll give it a chance. The first chapter with Jill was good. I'll even ignore that brainless "thermal underwear" joke this roided up meathead just made." Then I get to this crap:

That's when I pulled the game out of my 3DS and completely wrote off the franchise. Oh, and the "my sweet ass" line from Sheva 2.0 perfectly punctuates how shitty that chapter is.

Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure

This game started out great, but as I got further into the game I'm starting to find the rhythm challenges annoying. First of all, I'm getting penalized for beats that I KNOW I hit perfectly, so fuck this game's inaccurate scoring system. Also, the rank system is BS. You can be getting perfects on every beat in a stage and miss one at the end and your rank plummets because you made ONE mistake. I've simply no patience anymore for overly punitive games. Fuck that and fuck the designers.

The game is so uneven too. You can have one ridiculously easy stage followed by one that is infuriating. Good game design means scaling the difficulty gradually. If you can't grasp basic concepts like that you shouldn't be designing video games.

Between this and Harmoknight, which I also gave up on because that game has no sense of rhythm at all, maybe this genre just isn't for me anymore

April update!:

Key:Red = Completely given up, Black = Intending to finish

Nintendo Land Wii U
Blaster Master Wii VC
Scribblenauts DS
Ultimate Ghosts n' Goblins PSP
Bubble Bobble SMS
Wild Arms PS1 Classics

Games off the list: HarmoKnight, Patchwork Heroes
Games on the list: Aero Porter

2 off, 1 on. It's been a fairly unproductive month as far as beating games go. I took out HarmoKnight early on, and beat Liberation Maiden, Fire Emblem and Patchwork Heroes, but thats about it.

Aero Porter I bought on the recent Guild 01 sale on eShop. It's OK. I dunno if I'll have finished it next month or not, I'm not that keen on it so far. We'll see.

Next month I plan to take Wild Arms off the list, seeing as I completely avoided doing so this month. Then it's summer time, and I plan to get blasting through lots of stuff!

Edit: I actually took out Patchwork Heroes on the 30th of April, so edited it out of the post.

Bit Trip Saga

I'm not even sure if you can beat all the beat trip games as a lot of them just seem based around high scores. Frankly, I found these games annoying, and not fun to play at all. The Pong game plays like shit on the 3DS whether you're using the stylus or analog. The analog moves across the screen too quickly, and the stylus doesn't move fast enough. Bit Trip Runner was just pissing me off. When you make a mistake you have to start the stage over again. If you make a mistake during the bonus levels, the game has the audacity to expect you to replay the preceding level in order to get the chance to play the bonus level again. People who still design games this way need to crawl out of their cave and get up to speed with modern game design. They're called checkpoints douchebags!

Screw Bit Trip Saga. I am not a fan of these overrated Bit Trip games

Now that I got that rant out of my system...

Sigh, I've been giving up on a lot of overrated 3DS games this week. Castlevania: LOS - Mirror of fate was the last 3DS game I actually finished. I started playing Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask today. Hopefully, that game will be good enough to convince me to actually finish it. This will be my first exposure to the Professor Layton series. Hopefully, it goes over better than my first experience with the Bit Trip games.
