It's a definitely a double edged sword. Makes you wonder how much Racketboy has affected prices over the years...Gamerforlife wrote:AppleQueso wrote: I think the price spiked up once Mike Matei showcased it in a video he made about SNES hidden gems.
You know it's ironic. When we do these hidden gems articles and videos it almost makes you wonder if we're doing a disservice to gamers when it inflates prices like that
"Here's this awesome game that I'm showing you, which you'll never get to play because now that I've done this video the game costs over 100 dollars!"

Indeed. Guns were of course less powerful long ago. The layers and flexibility of a stack of pages would help absorb the impact and spread it out so you're a bit more likely to end up with a nasty bruise where as a plank that was a bit thinner to account for the air in between the pages would instead splinter creating shrapnel and making things worse because it is harder and more brittle. Bullet proof vests are made of layers of woven fibers.o.pwuaioc wrote:^Pages become denser as the bullet travels through it. It's folkloric that a Bible saves a person from a gunshot wound. I've heard stories (back when I was researching cult legends) of people saved from that during war time. I could date it at *least* as far back as the 70s. I have no doubt it's from much earlier when bullets probably couldn't pierce a Bible.

There are also instances of hip flasks and other metal objects being in shirt pockets and denting, but deflecting bullets enough to prevent mortal wounds as well. A perfectly straight on shot would probably go straight through, but if it is at an angle, it could be deflected where as it would just plow through you at an angle anyway.

pulling all my consoles down to get some better cable management going. Probably gonna end up rearranging the console shelf to take stuff like cable lengths into better consideration.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Started doing that last weekend. Wisdom tooth started pounding half-way through the process, and I ended up just plugging everything back in, took a step back, and realized that it didn't look much better.AppleQueso wrote:pulling all my consoles down to get some better cable management going. Found some cable ties and junk from when we moved to Houston, and may have another go at it next weekend...

They have gone up a bit quite a bit, 5 goes for $60ish on its own.o.pwuaioc wrote:2 & 3 are cheap, i.e. < $10. 1 is pricey, but worth it. I'm skipping 4-6 for now. Still, you're only looking at barely over $100 for all 6 when I was looking at it, maybe hitting $150 tops. Not sure where you're getting the higher prices. Have they gone up significantly lately?

Yeah, mine doens't really look any different now, since all the wiring is behind a bookshelf anyway. At least it's not as much of a tangled mess anymore though.jinx wrote:Started doing that last weekend. I am in love with Injustice, but I absolutely suck. Though I did win my 4th player match today, so that's nice. (I have played about 20 matches so far though).
I started playing SMT: Strange Journey. I'm about 2 hours in and I find it pretty engaging. I hope that it keeps my interest.

My computer's getting awfully sluggish, I should probably upgrade myself one of these days.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
For the last ~8 years (wow), I used a laptop for a desktop for a long time, then had one of those nasty Gateway slim case machines. So I had to get externals haha, I actually have more on the side not in use... but yeah what a pain. Can't wait to get a big tower that'll hold a lot.
It's funny I have this ancient 120GB Seagate monster BRICK external though that still works like a charm. I swear it's gotta be 8 years old at least.
