Just got a Commodore 64. . .

Post by Jrecee »

Never had one before. Rigged it up with my nes rf cable for now, but I'm waiting on an a/v cable from ebay. I found a sweet hitachi monitor/tv at a thrift store for $1.25 today.

So originally I planned to buy a 1541u, but those require A.) Waiting, and B.) a bunch of money. Also, I'm mostly interested in the retro computer experience, so don't necessarily want to just boot disk images from a menu. I'm thinking of getting a zoomfloppy which as I understand it would let me download games and copy them to disks, thereby running them like they were intended. My concern is that I'm in the U.S. and I guess a lot of the images are the euro versions? I've heard most of them run, but they'll just run incorrectly or with graphical glitches.

Two things: Get a fast-loader cart (I had an Epyx one and it worked great), and get Commando. 8)

Enjoy the pinnacle of 8bit gaming (imo).

Word up!

Get a fast load cart and search for some decent cartridge games too.
