Hmm I can't decide whether I think that matters or not from a collection standpoint. I lean towards, something that I would collect, but as a general rule, ports are better then emulation, I think. Thoughts?

Well, I own a copy as well as all of the NES carts too. Then again I bought it for $10 at a store back when it was new. If you can find a copy that isn't pricey, I'd say it adds to the collection. :)

Oh, and been a while since I played with it, but as I recall it does savestates.

I'll let you know what I think! I bought this one here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Konami-Collecto ... 1c2effe0d7

Thanks for the heads up!

I think you pretty much have it covered. You could always spring for the Playstation 2 release of the arcade game Haunted Castle which did come out in Japan as an alternative to collecting an arcade board. That's the route I am going. I have pretty much every console or handheld Castlevania game at this point. The only game I am missing is the downloaded one I used to have on my Motorolla KRZR phone back in 2004. I traded in my phone for an upgrade and I don't think they ever re-released it on other formats.

I'm doing fairly well, but I'm missing the increasingly pricey Dracula X for the Super Nintendo. I'll have to break down and get it at some point.

Yeah I'm not including download only games on the list, hard to "collect." Thus the recently published Castlevania: Harmony of Despair for XBLA/PSN isn't listed.

I don't know if your interested in comics, but there is a Castlevania comic with 5 in the series.

I definitely am, are you referring to Castlevania: The Belmont Legacy? I've not sought it out yet, but I am sure I will get it at some point. There's also apparently a comic based off of Curse of Darkness, but the art doesn't seem as well done. I may still get it as well at some point.

Yea, that's the one I was talking about, seen it while looking up prices for Nintendo Comic System. I'll have to look at flea markets for those.

Yeah I believe there is a compendium with all 5 comics or you can buy them individually. I found the first two for fairly cheap, but the latter 3 might be a bit tougher.

What are the thoughts on repros? I think I might get Castlevania: Blood Moon at some point. I think there might be a hack of Simon's Quest too?

Do you have the C64 Castlevania? I'm a big fan of the Commodore conversions of classic Japanese games.

Blood Moon looks decent enough. There's another homebrew/hack cart called Chorus of Mysteries.
