US Castlevania Collection

Post by Stark »

I collect games based on nostalgia or the desire to play something I never did as a kid. One of the series of games I really enjoyed were the Castlevania games. Since my childhood days of playing the first title for the NES and the sequel Simon's Quest, I've continued to play Castlevania games over the years and have really enjoyed the latter games in the series (Lords of Shadow).

In this case, I've been working towards a complete, US collection of Castlevania games and with the recent pop-up of a version of Castlevania for MS-DOS (see here, I thought I would share my collection list and see if you all can see anything I'm missing from the list. I won't list which of these items I have here, but I will be working on a collection thread soon (Hobie, Ack, and Michi have inspired me).

Without further adieu here's the list (chronologically sorted by release date):

Castlevania (NES)
Castlevania (PlayChoice-10)
Castlevania (PC)
Castlevania (C64)

Hmm, that might be a tad extreme, but I think maybe I'll include getting a PCB for part of the collection. Thanks for the add.

Good idea! I hadn't thought about this before. Do you have some that you are aware of? I'll head over to a search engine now ...

You know I wouldn't mind pursuing such a collection myself. You may have inspired me to try this myself one day, as I already own a few Castlevania games. Nice work Stark! There are a few games in that list I forgot even existed!

I'm really high on Castlevania at the moment. I had a blast with Mirror of Fate. Hopefully, it gets some sequels so you have more to add to your collection

Konami Classics Volume 1 (Xbox 360)
Konami Collector's Series: Castlevania & Contra (PC)

That's all I know off the top of my head.

The first Castlevania is also on the Amiga.

There's a Tiger handheld of Simon's Quest.

The PC collection thing is emulated NES games, FYI, I think they still turn up new on ebay from time to time as well.
