RARE CIB Castlevania game for DOS system?

Post by SNKnicotine »

I was browsing through CL (craigslist) and stumbled upon a post advertising a rare DOS version of Castlevania on Ebay. I'm not very familiar with computer games , but from the sounds of it, this game is highly sought after. What's your all's thoughts and how rare is this game actually?

Here's the post

That's really neat - there's also a DOS Contra.

That's cool, but they must be spamming it everywhere. They signed up and posted the listing in regular BST yesterday without reading the rules first.

WANT. Don't want to pay the asking price though.

Wasn't Castelevania a MSX game before it got ported to NES? A DOS port doesn't seem so weird given the history
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

No, it was released on the Famicom Disk System first and then it got brought over to the MSX a month later, although the MSX game is very different from the NES/FDS game.

Also, I've played the DOS version and it's not very good. Better than the Amiga version though which was total crap. The C64 version isn't too bad for what it is.

It may be rare, but I wouldn't expect it to be good...
