ULTIMATE PAYBACK on a store that has burned me before

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

ULTIMATE PAYBACK on a store that has burned me before

Post by TheRev »

There is a local comic shop chain in RI and Southern Mass called the Toy Vault. I have bought comics from them for years and when they started getting games I bought gaming things from them. On my last two vists to them however I ended up being Burned $50 on an N64 (busted cart slot) and the next time a Saturn game that upon reaching a particular stage, would return me to the menu.

Today I got my vindication. I'm looking through their comics as buying games here makes me squeamish and I see something for $20

They sold me THIS for $20:

THAT is some serious Payback their ignorance of this Book's Resale Value made up for the two times they burned me.

Not sure why you'd continue to buy things at a shop that's sold you defective merchandise before.

I get the feeling though. Every once in a while you'll stumble onto an undervalued gem in a pile of overpriced games at a flea market, and it always feels extra good.

They fail at reselling games and consoles, but they're a competent Comic Book store. While they burn me on games more than a few times, I have gotten some very good deals on Comics from them.

I'm not sure what's more surprising - that you paid $50 for an N64, or that you didn't realize it had a "broken cart slot".

It was only after I got a replacement Unit and tore the broken ones to shreds that I realized that was the problem.

They also paid me something like $30 for a copy of Resident Evil 2 with no Booklet I sold them Clearly they have no clue what anything is worth.

The Sega Sports Dreamcast I bought from them on my 30th Birthday worked, AND STILL works

I have no idea how much that book is worth but a quick eBay search under 'sold' listings shows the last one at $36.50. Perhaps those bidders just got lucky.

Did you try to return the broken game stuff? Do they even know they sold it under market? I don't see much payback, it seems they sold a bunch of stuff to you, so I am sure they are happy...

this. I see lots of inflated unsold auctions, but the recent one for $36.50 had 6 bids, so it wasn't some random scoop...

I don't think you have ("ULTIMATE" revenge or a pricey book) what you think you have...

Did they replace this? Because it's not that uncommon for older electronics to be broken, in fact, it happens a lot. If this is the case, be glad you bought it from somewhere that would replace it.

If asked and they refused to repair/replace/refund, I wouldn't shop there anymore. There are a million other places to get the same items, with a guarantee, they're probably going to be cheaper, and they're going to care that you're satisfied.

Looking a little further would've shown you the person who won it for $36.50 got lucky indeed. The other copies that sold within the last 14 days sold for $102.50, $59.99, $65.00, $90.00, $60.00, and one where a best offer got accepted on an initial $200.00 price tag, all before shipping. So I'm pretty sure the OP got a great deal when he found this for 20 bucks...
