it's crap - apparently you cant actually customise your GLOBAL XBLA avatar, only one which added friends will see - i think if you put a jpeg or gif on a mem stick or cd-r you can set them as your avatar (for friends) or you can probably do it by logging into live.com.
So is that how you got the one of Ryu in your signature?
no I actually BOUGHT that :s - its the Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting pack I think
there was no way I was sticking with Gears Of War and Master Chief representing me for long

I also like logging on and seeing what other racketboy members are playing and what kind of achievements, etc they racked up on games we both have. I don't actually play online too much. I really should. I know that a bunch of us have some common games.
The d-pad does suck but I use a Hori arcade stick for a lot of my 2D gaming.
yeh I like checking the scores of racketboy ppl aswell,
i was playing Crimson Skies against my friend last week, thats great fun multiplayer

You can unlock gamerpics in some games by playing through them, you can download free gamerpics from LIVE, and you can buy yet other gamerpics from LIVE.
Yeah achievements have governed my soul for quite some time now. I barely touched any other console for a year and a half. That's not to say it's the only reason 360 is my bread and butter. The games lineup is just so solid it's hard to care about Wii or PS3.
Luckily I've weened myself off achievements as of late and have been playing my Genesis and PS1. Although, the gamerscore is calling my name. I really need to get around to breaking 50k.
Another thing I do like about 360 is the custom soundtracks that are standard across all games. You can make a playlist of mp3s to stream from your network or off a thumbdrive or ipod or whatever in the dashboard. When you start a game it knows you're listening to custom music so it automatically cuts off it's own music and leaves the effects up. It pauses your music during cut scenes, etc. This is a required standard for 360 games so they all support it. You can pull up the guide in-game and change the relative volume, skip a track, whatever.
The other night I played Puzzle Quest with a shuffled soundtrack of music from various Final Fantasy, Castlevania, and Zelda games. Way cool.
