Can't beat sprites, nuff' said. Can't say any 2D styled polygon game I've played has ever been that memorable honestly. I also have been pretty lukewarm with the handheld Zelda's and haven't enjoyed them much since the Oracle games, but this looks way better than the DS ones to me. A bit skeptical so far to say the least, especially to ride the success of a perfect title... lol.
So yeah still would be more excited for the next Wii U title, though I'm still a bit disappointed Wind Waker is getting the HD treatment, even if it looks amazing, Majora's Mask or Twilight Princes, etc, would have benefited even more with a facelift.

I feel like I'm having to point out over and over again that the game clearly makes use of 3D space. To do what they're doing with this, you couldn't use sprites.
I was pretty eh on the look of it at first too, but it's kinda growing on me and honestly right now I don't have any complaints.

Here's some more footage of a boss battle and the new wall mechanic. Again, the boss battle is a duplicate of one from LttP, so I'm still unsure as to how close to the original game this title will be. Either way, it continues to impress.

Yeah after watching it in motion, it looks great. My first impression was definitely of "NEW Legend of Zelda"AppleQueso wrote:I feel like I'm having to point out over and over again that the game clearly makes use of 3D space. To do what they're doing with this, you couldn't use sprites.

Seems quite interesting. I love painting mechanic. And I wish that you do it just by sliding the 3D slider, and not with a button. It would be like Phantom Hourglass requiring you to close the DS to copy something unto the map on the bottom screen

This looks pretty cool. I want.

I think it looks fantastic. I'm buying for sure. Of course, anything so inspired by A Link to the Past is guaranteed to get my money.
Also, I'm very happy that Link can be controlled with the circle pad rather than the touch screen like the ds games.
I'm not saying it didn't work (kinda), I'm just saying I hated it.

I can still vastly have my preference though.AppleQueso wrote:I feel like I'm having to point out over and over again that the game clearly makes use of 3D space. To do what they're doing with this, you couldn't use sprites.

Yeah, I've recently developed a renewed interest in my 3DS after letting it collect dust for a couple months. There's some interesting titles on the horizon, and some cool ones currently available now. I've been having a blast with Rhythm Thief and Castlevania: Mirror of Fate. I've also got my eye on Luigi's Mansion 2 and Kid Icarus and I picked up Resident Evil Revelations today. I really wanted to get a Vita recently, but while I still intend to do that perhaps later this year if the price drops, I've sort of fallen in love with my 3DS again...just wish I had an XL. I "early adopted" the 3DS, and ended up in the ambassador program. It's definitely a good thing that I had those GBA games to play on it, because Super Mario 3D Land almost made me pack the whole bloody lot up and sell it to someone else before it became a total loss.
I'm so happy they turned it around -- even with what it has right now for a library, it's a must-own system. Games like this prove that somehow, somewhere, Nintendo's still got it.
