It's a series I literally just learned about a few weeks ago...uh, whenever I asked that question about it. For some reason I thought it started with with PSP and PS3/360 games. Now I can't wait. It looks like my kind of fighter.noiseredux wrote:Vampire Savior on Sat? Good for you man. That game is amazing. I'm still in need of the Sat port myself.
Let's talk about your NEO GEO collecting + PRICE GUIDES

holy crap dood really? Haha. So all those various Morrigan avatars I've used -- you had no idea? You're in for a real treat! Vampire Savior is def the place to start with the series.o.pwuaioc wrote:It's a series I literally just learned about a few weeks ago...uh, whenever I asked that question about it. Heh, yeah. I saw them, and thought it was some PS3 game you liked. Never thought to look into it more. It was actually this video that educated me:noiseredux wrote:holy crap dood really? Haha. So, barring the modern ones, where do I go after Vampire Savior? Are any other ones worth looking at? Is the PS2 game worth getting?

the PS2 game is a collection of all 5 arcade games.o.pwuaioc wrote: So, barring the modern ones, where do I go after Vampire Savior? Are any other ones worth looking at? Is the PS2 game worth getting?
The 'definitive version' is probably Vampire Chronicle for DC/PSP. It is basically a compilation in which you can play as characters from all the games and mix-n-match play styles from each.
As a Saturn fan you should def consider Vampire Hunter though to go along with your copy of Savior.

Excellent. It is on my list now.noiseredux wrote:As a Saturn fan you should def consider Vampire Hunter though to go along with your copy of Savior.
OK, back to Neo Geo talk!
Any good NGCD platformers besides Blue's Journey and Top Hunter?

IDK how it is on NGCD, but Magician Lord is pretty good. I have it on AES.

If you consider Top Hunter a platformer, then yeah, there are other games very similar to it.
The only straight platformers on NGCD though are Magician Lord and Raguy (Blue's Journey).
@Fox, i'd make Ganryu a priority for yr MVS, give it a youtube run. Outstanding game, in the Ninja Warriors Again / Osman Cannon Dancer realm.

Well, I'll have to check all of those out, since I'm not familiar with any of 'em.mjmjr25 wrote:If you consider Top Hunter a platformer, then yeah, there are other games very similar to it.

That's just so strange to me. I figured at the very least you would've recognized Morrigan from all the VS. games that recycled the same sprite of her for like 10 years.o.pwuaioc wrote:Heh, yeah. I never really saw much reason to play any of the games beyond Vampire Savior myself. Most of them are just tweaks or rehashes. Even Chronicle is basically just a comprehensive Hyper SF2 style mode simply tacked onto Savior. Chronicle is also pretty damn old now, so really, when you think about it, there aren't any "modern" Darkstalkers games.
I wouldn't mind checking out the older ones though, just for kicks. Might pick up a Saturn copy of Night Warriors myself.
