OMG - right! I haven't played RS in a while and I guess that slipped my mind completely. Arcade-wise, yeah RS is a 3-button game. So at that, I currently can't think of any Saturn shmup that would REQUIRE more than 3 buttons. Nice.

Nice, I own the 4 buttton model that Hori released for Tekken 3 on the PS1. They seem identical. It's a solid stick, just aboutt the right amound of room to rest your wrists and the stock buttons feel REALLY good with a nice flat surface to them, yet real responsive.
Yeah it actually looks to be same size/build as the later Hori GameCube stick (there was a generic blue one and a SoulCalibur II branded one -- both JPN only) that I've used and it is superrrr comfortable. So if this one is anything like that, I'm gonna be very happy with it.

Noise, since you posted this, and I posted that part about a DIY HSS-130, well I got to thinking and asking around. I have a buddy with a 4ftx4ft vacuum former and he thinks he could pull plastic for an actual DIY HSS-130, if I got him a CP.

It's a standard astro/blast aluminum 2L 12B panel. I have a couple but they have custom vinyl art on them. If he just wants a stock / blank one, can buy NOS for about $100 when they pop up, or about $75 for a repro panel. I'll go find the link to the ones on ebay if he is wanting it sooner than later...

^That's the price w/overlay and populated. Just the panel is $69 and shipping.

 (thought I was up to speed on this thread, missed 5 posts somehow)...

I've boughten (4) of them from that seller (Ken of "The Gameroom"). You can try and message him direct on his site and pay $4-5 less than ebay and save the fees.

Here's his website: http://thegameroom.com/

The vinyl overlays are well-made, very tough stuff and clear printing (no mars) if you go overlay route. They come uncut, but once cut and laid on the panel, the holes come out super slick w/a box cutter.

alright so spent some time with the V7 and DoDonPachi last night. The stick size/shape/weight is the same as similar Hori sticks (GameCube's SoulCalibur II stick, one of the PS2 Virtua Fighter sticks, etc). This is good in my book as this series is solid and well built, if a bit smaller than most sticks of the era. The stick itself is very clicky and responsive. I'm happy with that. The buttons are also nice and easy to press, responsive, and pop right back up as they should. I don't love the placement of the START button though, as putting it up near my left hand means I've accidentally hit pause a couple times. Not sure why they put it near the stick rather than up near the buttons. But that said, just being mindful it's there should alleviate that. All in all, I'm really happy with the V7. Sure I'd still like a JPN Virtua Stick some day - mainly because it's pretty. But no rush as far as functionality goes.

You can always put a piece of cardboard between them. I use to do that with the Q key when playing Loderunner on the Apple 2 - you moved with WASZ and Q was quit, without a confirm screen.

I recall button covers as well, that you rest over a button you don't want to use.

I'm sure fasts' idea would work too and much cheaper / faster.

The VF's are pretty nice, good call IMO. I actually use those for the genesis (replace the stock PCB with a genesis controller.)

For saturn, I gave up on trying to find a nice 0136 years ago. I took a dreamcast agetec stick and soldered in the PCB from a saturn pad. I also put in a switch that changes c/z to r/l for nights, or to put in a coin for RS's arcade mode. That stick I put all sanwa parts in, and I have a saturn -> DC adapter if I need to use it with a dreamcast.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.
