I am betting it is the LTTP world but fifty or hundred years into the future meaning some of the overworld will be similar. Either way, between this and Pokemon X/Y, Ill finally be using my 3ds again.

Indeed.AppleQueso wrote:It's basically confirmation that Nintendo has no plans to abandon top-down Zeldas. That alone is reason to be happy I think.

You know what would be totally bitchin? If they pulled a Fire Emblem 3 and had both the original LttP in the new style and then the new story set afterwards, and if you wanted to skip right to the new story you could.fastbilly1 wrote:I am betting it is the LTTP world but fifty or hundred years into the future meaning some of the overworld will be similar. Yeah I know. I miss 2d sprites though.AppleQueso wrote:I'm seeing lots of use of 3D space in general and things that just couldn't be done with sprites.CavZee wrote:Not sure what to think of this ATM. I know it'll be a fun and well made game, but...I'm not feeling the art style I guess. Can't help but think it would look so much nicer with 2d sprites. The ability to enter the walls looks really interesting though!

Just browsing through various comment sections, I do agree with the people that say it has a "New Super Mario Bros." kind of look to it.

I can see that, but I'm not gonna complain one bit about "New Legend of Zelda"Opa Opa wrote:Just browsing through various comment sections, I do agree with the people that say it has a "New Super Mario Bros." kind of look to it.

This looking freaking amazing. Creative use of 3D, as in not just something affected by how far you have the slider jigged. Top down is worth the price of admission alone. I love that they're playing with the idea of multiple links in parallel universes -- that this may be the "same" world from A Link to the Past, but a different Link in a different time.

Something that I have been considering about this game (and I believe AppleQueso and irixith mentioned already) is that the 3D isn't arbitrary, it's actually integrated into how the game plays. That makes me feel a little better about it because it makes it feel like less of a gimmick. I still don't know how to feel about it in the sense that I've never seen a Zelda game like it, so it's possible that some of the uncertainty is just stemming from that.
Re: New 2D (well, overhead) Zelda coming out for 3DS
Even though I don't own a 3DS, I'm just glad to see LttP revisited, and stylistically I like where they've taken it. However, I'm not sure how I feel about the "become a drawing on the wall" mechanic. I expect a lot, mechanically speaking, from Nintendo, and this kind of seems a bit phoned-in. I get that they want to incorporate the different dimensions, but it seems like they didn't explore all of their options, and just went with the first thing that popped into their head.
