That's entirely up to us, I would think. I originally thought to seperate the scores by type, but doing it by mode makes it a little more cleaner. Keep in mind Type Z costs 3,000,000 Item Points to unlock

I don't mind if you take out the Type Z scores from the Simple and Original tables, just to make things more even for everyone. I should still have the top scores in each at the minute anyway. :)

Taking a detour from the current game for just a moment for a rather exciting announcement -- yesterday on my monthly arcade journey, I found a Carrier Airwing cab! This is a big deal, because I've never seen one in the wild. Plus, it's a Capcom shmup :)
Image
It was a conversion from a late 80s Data East style cab (marquee bowed out towards the front, control panel was similar) but the screen and sound were really perfect.
Image
My score wasn't the best, because I got a few hits from some rather invisible shots/objects. Plus, what kind of Capcom arcade game does NOT allow you to put a . in your name entry? But that really didn't matter, it was the experience of seeing a new shmup in its original form.

I've got many more pics of other games I encountered yesterday in a thread here which I found and revived for the sole purpose of sharing stuff like that. Go and see!

Thanks for posting that Exed. That takes me back. I LOVED UN Squadron when I was a kid, so when that came out I fed it quarters more often than I fed my dog.

(I might be able to report on it soon if I can find an arcade in Kyoto that has it.)

I went to HEY in Akiba 2 weeks ago, I didn't see it there. Did it just come out? I'll look for it again when I go back in June.

Someone on shmups forum said it was in the Taito arcade in Akihabara. Seems like it just appeared in the last week or so. There's a sneak preview, recorded on their iPhone...

Thanks. It probably is HEY (owned by Taito) since they have just about every shmup that has ever existed.

You're welcome. :) That is a *big* deal. Not just because I'm a Capcom fan, either. It was a great day. I got tons of other pics in the linked thread. It took *me* back to a wonderful time.

Played this game for the first time today. Glad it was suggested for SOTM. I am having fun with it even though I am not 100% sure what is going on. I'll get on the board with this score:

SIMPLE MODE

hashiriya1 - 66,916,190 - Stage 5 - Type I
