Rise of the Triad 2013

Post by fastbilly1 »

The "sequel to Wolf3d" is getting an Unreal 3 makeover and it looks insane. So far no mention of a release date, but confirmed that it will be $15 and on both GOG and Steam. So best of all worlds. Sadly there is no mention on if the Drunk Rockets or the Attack Dogs have been implemented, but the multiplayer gameplay looks stacked:

Edit:
Now that I think about it, the Attack Dogs were in the ROTT expansion.

Supposed to be this summer. This is a Day 1 for me, as I loved ROTT back in the day.

It was built as a sequel with just a pallet swap from Nazis to a Cult.

ok, so it isn't a sequel in terms of anything other than the engine. tbh I never knew back when I played it that it had any relation to Wolf3D. Was it worked on by iD  ? What's the story here?

Rumor is that Carmack said it couldnt be an expansion pack and had to be a standalone to give Doom more time in the market. Had it been an expansion pack it would have most likely came out right before Doom and obviously cut into sales.

I read a couple nice writes up on this a couple years ago, let me see I if I can dig one out for you.

I am debating on GOG or Steam for day one. I just dont know if we will play it at my house currently, and if we wont, Steam and buy it on GOG later.

Very cool, thanks for sharing. I still don't think it is fair to consider it a Wolf 3D sequel as many games start as one thing and become another, but that's still a pretty cool story.

So totally want. That multiplayer video game me flashbacks to the good old days of FPS deathmatch. For those of you guys who don't care for FPS or wonder what we see in them and why we play them, THAT is why. That level of frantic, high-speed, adrenline fueled action.

Also, Charles Barkley.
