Silpheed - PS2

Post by env963 »

Just picked this up for the PS2. I have mixed feelings about it. The pace of the game doesn't bother me, the graphics are awesome. The problem I have with it is the fire buttons setup. One button shoots from the left side, one button shoots from the right side. And one shoots them both. Well, what i dont understand is why bother with being able to shoot from either side. It doesnt drain no energy nor does it shooter faster. So it just seems pointless to do that. Just shoot with both sides (X button) and be done with it. There isnt any strategy involved. Well I picked up the game for $5 so I can't compain to much. Anyone else have any comments on this game?

Maybe later in the game, there's things you shouldn't shoot?

I enjoyed Silpheed for PS2 until the stage where you're flying over the fire. I lose track of my ship too easily in that stage, especially when fighting the boss for that level... Anyone else have that problem?

I figured that this game probably wouldn't be good, since it's a Treasure game that goes for $5 used these days. Treasure games that aren't respected or valued are kind of an anomaly.

Stretch Panic receives higher praise than this game.

Hate that stage, dude. I really think that an improved weapons system could have made this a good game instead of the mediocre shooter it is.

Not bad for $5 though.

I thought it was a terrible shmup. Incredibly easy and all those cutscenes between stages were BORING.

The original Silpheed on the Sega CD is a classic though.
