So what's the best way to play using mouse/keyboard? You have one hand on the mouse and the other hand on the number pad?

I have to write down the keyboard shortcuts down on a piece of paper but I'll do that later since I have yard work to do.
right hand on mouse, left hand on WASD (W-forward, S-back, A/D - L/R). This puts Space (jump) and E (use) and Shift (Run)/Ctrl (crouch) and Q (last weapon) at easy access for the left hand and. This is the default setting, anyway.

I too just started Apprehension. I don't understand the dislike for On a Rail. I thought it was sorta fun.

WASD=movement
C or Control=crouch
Shift=Sprint/sneak, depends on game. Some games have both.
Space=Jump
Q/E=Strafe/lean sideways
R=Reload
F=Flashlight
Z/X=Lay down
1-9=Change weapon. I recommend mouse button 4/5 on the side of the mouse for switching between weapons/changing to last weapon used. If you're ever going to play on a PC, you need a 5 button mouse. Even if you're not going to play on a PC, 5 button mouse is still a great purchase since it makes going forward/backwards between pages and folders very fast and easy.
Left mouse button=Shoot
Right mouse button=Alternative fire (use a sniper rifle scope, shoot with grenadelauncher etc, depending on weapon)
Middle mouse button=Throw grenade/melee
V=Action button, use items

Thats how most shooters work, although naturally you can set up your own keys on most PC games. There are personal preferences and some games dont have some functions like lay down, lean sideways, voice messages to your team or melee strikes.

Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

the shark cage part was awesome. I've since killed the 3 ninja guys and found myself in a trash compactor. I climb the boxes, but get crushed at the top. :\

Climb faster next time. And the ninjas were girls.

I was climbing fast enough -- just didn't realize I needed to duck to get up on that ledge apparently. :\

Been running around on conveyor belts like some alien-themed Mousetrap.

EDIT: I thought the 3 ninjas were these kids grown up?

What do lefties do? Force themselves to use the mouse right-handed?

Although I'm a righty, I prefer to use the mouse in my left hand. It started doing this years ago as a way to avoid wrist pain in the right hand and it worked. It was a little uncomfortable at first but then it became natural to me.

Eh, most set it up with similar keys on the num pad.

So, 8 4 5 6 to move, enter to crouch, 0 to jump etc.

One nice thing about most PC games. Rebindable keys. 8)

Unfortunately that you have to rebind it yourself. I wish they had set it up because I was using it and trying to figure out why I had to hit the space bar to jump. I'll go do the rebinding now.

I'm glad to see you persevering. You are about half way through the game at the half way point of the month, so i am confident that you'll actually finish this one :D

Just out of curiosity, have you ever finished an FPS? This would be a great first one to notch.
