I've been using the hd box pro and slg3000 with my genesis all day. It works perfectly. When I use it with me Snes however, I get this really nasty jumpy picture. Some video here.
Both consoles are connected through scart to a scart switch. Then a scart to yuv (component) converter. That goes in to the component in of the hd box pro and the VGA out of that goes into the slg3000 then into the tv.
The snes looks great when I plug in the scart to component straight into the tv. I also tried composite and that works fine too.
Anybody ever seen this before?
Hd box pro - Snes picture problems
Re: Hd box pro - Snes picture problems
I don't know why that's happening, possibly it's a resistor or capacitor in the SCART plug.
If you unscrew and open the plug end of your SCART cable, and take a good picture of it (or 3), I might be able to identify what's in it, and eliminate or identify it as the problem.

Thanks Anapan for taking a look. Here are a few pics. The cable is form retro-access.com

Re: Hd box pro - Snes picture problems
Heh, you kinda butchered the casing - It should not affect performance, tho stability is questionable.
I'm using my cable as reference (Bought from Retro Console Accessories). Hooking it into an XRGB-3, it's working great. Since your HD Box Pro should do the same function, I'll list the differences between our cables:
The first thing I notice is the black, grey & blue loops jumping from pin-to-pin - Mine doesn't have those. The black loop is a ground jumper. My cable has nothing on that pin - that's probably not a big deal, extra grounding on unused pins only eliminates noise. The blue ones are jumping from connected pins to unused pins (on my cable). The resistor is not the same one mine has - yours is 75 ohm, where mine is 180 ohm. The capacitors are not the same as my cable has either. Mine are 220uf where your cable has 110uf. Also, the one thing that really stands out is the 4th 110 capacitor (the one on the other side connected to a black wire, and the same pin as the resistor) That one is not on my cable, mine only has 3. The rest of the pins appear to be wired correctly, at least the same pins are used as on mine tho the colors of the wires (as expected) are different but since you were able to get a picture, it must have at least most of the pinout right.
edit:
Checking with GamesX Wiki: - Nintendo AV:
My guess is you bought a PAL Nintendo AV/SCART cable with some other crap in it too. The resistor and capacitors are (seemingly) correct for a signal from several PAL Nintendo consoles from Europe.
They are not compatible with the NTSC signal from your North American console.
You can modify your cable with less than $1 worth of capacitors and resistors, or buy one labeled "SNES NTSC - RAW Sync" (or similar).

Re: Hd box pro - Snes picture problems
Yea haha, I didnt see any way to open it up clearly so i had to cut it open. I figure I can just super glue it together if need be.
This is the cable I have, which claims to be ntsc: http://www.retro-access.com/ourshop/pro ... -SNES.html
Whats weird is that the cable works fine when you take the hd box pro our of the picture. It works when its hooked up to the scart to component converter then to the TV.
Do you know where I may find a good ntsc cable?
I'm not confident at all with messing around with soldering and stuff like that, but i might give it a try if its an easy enough fix.
Again, thanks for taking a look Anapan.
