Hold on Noise.
Found a good DC walkthrough for ya.
It's already set at 14:17 where this guy encounters the door. He passes it through the ventilation system in the room next door and appears to get past it without the train cart. As far as I know, this could be a DC-exclusive part to the level because I don't remember doing it this way (or even that door) on the original. I do like the added detail to the weapon(s) on the DC port.

I honestly don't remember that in the PC version. Maybe I just forgot it or maybe it is unique to the DC.

I don't remember that either. The placement of the overhead light that makes the jump more difficult is also unusual.dsheinem wrote:Nice!ExedExes wrote:Hold on Noise.

Re: Together Retro: Half-Life
this is really funny. I hooked up my keyboard, enabled Noclip and then completely by accident noticed that ventilation system in the room next to the door on my own. I was just coming to this thread to say "hey guys I figured it out! It's diff than the PC version! Here's what you gotta do!"
Anyway, thanks all for the help. It's very cool that there are cheats accessible with the keyboard, but I'm also really glad I can now proceed without cheating.
EDIT: Also of note, in the DC version sometimes when you break boxes a VMU will fall out. You can't pick it up or use it for anything. But it's still a neat touch.

I've found reading noise's progress to be more entertaining than the game.
I'm actually learning some stuff about the DC version.

Just by watching that walkthrough video, I can see that it remains faithful to the PC yet adds a lot of little touches along the way.
As for my progress, I just got rudely spit out of a sewer in time for the "Residue Processing" level.

Congrats, you just finished what is probably my least favorite level of the game. You are getting close to some of my favorites, too.noiseredux wrote:just started the next level, Apprehension.

Glad you got it figured out; that vent is in the PS2 version too. I took it, but I'm not sure that it was the only route through the level.

Re: Together Retro: Half-Life
I just installed my copy of Half Life Platinum Collection. Never played a FPS on the PC before except years ago with the Doom/DukeNukem series.
So what's the best way to play using mouse/keyboard? You have one hand on the mouse and the other hand on the number pad?
I have to write down the keyboard shortcuts down on a piece of paper but I'll do that later since I have yard work to do.
