So I was going through my old Mac games and had a sizable pile going that I was going to donate to make some room.
I had AoE II Gold for Mac and on a whim decided, right before I went to Goodwill, to check a couple of the games out online. Well, most of them sold for 2 or 3 bucks if at all. My AoE was listed at 50-100 bucks! I ended up selling it for about $65 on eBay pretty quickly.
What makes this rarer? I couldn't find anything online short of its high prices. I was surprised there was a market for old Mac games. What's the deal?

It is probably a bubble because of the HD remake that just came out. Since the market was so small, most games held their value. When I worked retail last in 03, AOEII was in our Mac section for $50 while it was $15 in the PC section.

A lot of old Mac games weren't produced in the same number as PC games.Beak wrote:So I was going through my old Mac games and had a sizable pile going that I was going to donate to make some room.

The Mac version of Halo and Sim City 4 are (relatively) insanely expensive too.
Older. Not wiser.
