Poor guy probably won't get any work looking like that.

Smile: Today I get to interview one of the key people behind my pick for runner-up for 2012 GOTY, and someone whose work and thinking I much admire.
Frown: It is finally nice outside, and I have a day of indoor work planned.

Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
Smile: I had a very good weekend in all but one respect...I had a hearing in Raleigh on Friday morning; so, I took my family with me to visit my parents. The hearing went well, and my wife and I took my brother and his girlfriend out to dinner in Raleigh. (We went to Lily's for pizza and beer. It was awesome.) I received two packages in the mail from Racketboy trades, and I picked up a lot of 2600 games at a good price from an antique mall. I completed Metal Slug Advance, and I finished up an minor home-improvement project. Even the movies my wife and I watched on Netflix this weekend were great.
Frown: My little girl broke her arm.
We were getting ready to head back to Charlotte when she fell down the stairs at her grandparents' house. She cried out, and I knew she had broken something as soon as I found her. (She had displaced fractures of the radius and ulna (i.e., her left forearm); so, the break was pretty obvious to me since I had almost the exact same break as a teenager.) We took her to the local ER - which fortunately had an osteopath on hand to set the bones - and we were on the road home in less than six hours. It was nonetheless a harrowing experience for (relatively) new parents like my wife and me. (And, it was certainly a harrowing experience for my four-year-old daughter.) I also knew that something like this would probably happen some day, but just thinking of your child in serious pain - much less seeing it - breaks any parent's heart.
Semi-Smile: In her words, she was a "tough, fightin' girl" who "did not cry too much" and she was yelling, coloring, and chasing her brother around the house less than 24 hours after the accident. We took her to Rita's yesterday as a treat, and we also took her to her favorite "toy store" (i.e., the "Balue Billage" where no one care if you play with all the toys and don't buy anything!). Children are amzingly resilient, and it is amazing to me that, despite the severity of her injury, it will be almost completely healed in four to six weeks.

Next time you are in Raleigh, give me a shout and I'll take you out for a spectacular lunch.
For heaven's sake, that is awful. Wish I could give you some advice, but I'm on empty as I have zero clue what it is like to be a Father. However I can assure you that any kid who goes to school with a cast immediately becomes super popular for their injury.
My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

Thanks, Luke. I appreciate it. I am not sure the prayers are necessary, however....we will certainly be getting plenty of those from my very religious extended family, and she is doing really, really well. (She is has started showing off all of the things that she can "all by [her]self" with only one hand.) Morever, she is really, really excited about going back to pre-school tomorrow so that she can show off her cast to all of her friends! (She has already drawn all over it with her crayons...)Luke wrote: For heaven's sake, that is awful. Ooph, that's terrible. I'm glad she seems to be handling it so well. Give her a pat on the head for all of us here. Which arm was it, and is she right or left-handed? Just wondering if it will hinder her ability to draw and color(though it sounds like it hasn't, thank goodness).

Sorry to hear about your daughter prfsnl_gmr. She does sound pretty tough though, which is good. It'll be healed up before you know it.
Oh and nice job with the Metal Slug Advance... I still can't get through it - dat final boss.

I feel like your name is horribly ironic at this point.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Sorry to hear about your daughter prfsnl_gmr. She does sound pretty tough though, which is good. It'll be healed up before you know it.
