The 360 has spoiled me.

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

That's the key. Different control schemes are better at different things. Under the working assumption that a player only has access to the default controllers (i.e. no PC joystick, console arcade stick, or classic controller).

PC:

FPS (also encompasses first person games like Morrowind)
RTS
MMO
Flight Sim (Falcon 4, X-Wing)
Mouse driven RPG (Fallout, Diablo)
Turn based strategy (Civ)

Standard controller (Xbox, PS3, SNES, etc):

Racing
Platforming
Fighting
Action (Secret of Mana, God of War)
Arcade-style Flight Sim (Rogue Squarden, Crimson Skies)
JRPG
Strategy RPG

Wiimote + optional Chuck (control wise, not graphics wise):

Anything that can be done on the NES, or NES with motion sensing (Wario Shake, Super Paper Mario)
Anything that can be done on the N64/Gamecube (Mario Kart, Mario Galaxy)
FPS (specifically the shooter aspect, there will be no Oblivion or Deus Ex, not enough control)
Unique games (such as Trauma Center)

The problem nowadays is that developers are trying to blur the lines too much. Let stuff stay where it belongs.

Going back to the original topic - No. I don't think the xbox is spoiling me - I'm currently really bored with Gears of War on Act II. I can't work out if I should sell it now and have done with it or bother to complete this boring game. This is just a month or so after having dragged myself through Bioshock - another game which completely sucked, although this is largely due to it falling massively short when compared to System Shock 2. I've got Ninja Gaiden 2, which was the reason I bought the box, and granted that it pretty decent, and have enjoyed Rez, Triggerheart Excelcia and Alien Hominid on download (none of which are curent gen games) and vaguely enjoying Mass Effect, but apart from these, I really can't see anything on the horizon to look forward to playing, or any reason to consider that this is a decent console compared to something like the Megadrive, Saturn or Dreamcast.

Whilst I'm on a moan, I'll mention that Resistance for PS3 and Zelda for wee were absolute rubbish as well.

Hope everyone's happy and all...

Until last night, I had never played System Shock 2 before, only Deus Ex. So when I played Bioshock, I thought it was great, but I could think of a few ways it could be better (basically stuff they would have done had it been PC exclusive). But I didn't compare it too hard with Deus Ex, since Deus Ex had that really great NPC interation and story, while Bioshock was going for more of a survival horror type of thing.

Then I played System Shock 2, and about five minutes in I was quoting Yahtzee. "[Bioshock] isn't like System Shock 2, it IS System Shock 2."

My problems with Bioshock:

lame outdated design choices like escort missions, respawning enemies, backtracking, fetch quests and making enemies tougher by simply giving them more health. Yet reviewers say this game is a bold step forward for gaming

ZERO enemy variety. I mean seriously, just how many times can you kill a Splicer before it gets old. And someone thought it was a good idea to have them respawn too

What's with the weak weapons? Shotgun and grenade launchers just do not have the kind of damage or impact they should in this game. I can blast an enemy point blank range with a shotgun as they're leaping towards me and I still get hit by their completely uninterrupted jump attack. Hmmm, physics don't apply in this game I suppose and the damage shotties do in Bioshock is a joke

How many damn traps did they put into this game? Walk through a door, get shot by a hidden turret. Go through a crawl space, get shot by a hidden turret, turn a corner, get shot by a hidden turret. Give me a break.

A game full of moral decisions? That's what every review says. Bioshock has ONE moral decision. Kill the little innocent girls or don't. I'm amazed some people(like the folks at Penny Arcade)actually thought there was some grey area there. Um no, it's pretty obvious that you're an evil bastard if you choose to kill them and the way the story plays out in response is not a surprise

I have other complaints too, but then I'd just be nitpicking

It's too bad, Bioshock has a great story. Plus, the variety of ways in which you can attack your enemies and the various customization and upgrade options give the game depth. However, very bad design decisions and repetitive enemies bring the experience down

yeh I do have to say I'm drifting closer and closer to my 360, I think a turning point was when I bought Samurai Shodown II yesterday on XBLA rather than Wii VC (even though I have a NeoGeo controller for my Wii)

The last thing I will give up is my refusal to play FPS's with a gamepad thou haha

my friend who also has a 360 is actually BUYING the Orange Box for me (which I have on PC) just to force me to play it on the 360 with him - I told him if he bought it I would... But I really do have serious problems playing FPS's with gamepads, semi FPS/3rd persons like Gears Of War and Resi 4 (although Wii version is best) I dont mind using gamepad analogue sticks, but full on FPS's i just HATE playing without keyboard and mouse...

lol guy's an idiot. The orange box is the best example of "DON'T BUY FPS ON CONSOLES IF THEY CAME OUT ON THE PC". you have to pay to play it online and have to pay for the free extra maps and weapons.

Thats what sucks so bad for people that play multiplayer on the 360, they have to pay for almost every little thing thanks to Microsoft. Maps, add-ons, and the Gold membership while PC users rightfully get this all for free plus much more. I don't get how Xbox users even put up with that. I guess the majority of people on Xbox Live is just to dumb to know that they are being ripped off?
