Length of Earthbound and Chrono Trigger?

Post by RadarScope1 »

So I just bought these two carts from a fellow forum member. :D Now I need to decide which to play first. I'd like to tackle the shorter one first, but can't really remember how long these games take to play through. I'd think EB would quicker just because CT has all the multiple endings.

How long does it take to play through EB? I seem to remember CT being your usual Squaresoft 16-bit game and clocking in around 40 or so hours to get to a single ending. Does that sound right?

So I think from a single playthrough perspective, CT is a bit shorter, as it was on the easier end of RPGs. Near the end Earthbound can get pretty brutal, and might require some grinding. There isn't a huge difference between the two, though. What I might recommend is a CT playthrough, then an EB playthrough, then start going throught CT New Game+.

actually my friend completed earthbound in less than 24 hours. Chrono trigger is around 40 hours if you go through the whole game because technically you can end chrono trigger whenever you want to once you get to a certain point in the game. so Earthbound takes the cake however both games are totally legit.

I played chrono trigger a few months ago and don't think it clocked that many hours, or maybe it was so damn good I didn't notice.
