Funny timing, as I just today bought Neo Turf Masters MVS after a long while of not buying a single cart for the system.

My CMVS, next to my supergun:

Not as pretty as the ones mjmjr25 posted but does it's job excellently. It was built by a friend of mine in Poland and I've recommended him to others as well. He also built my supergun and has modded several Saturn pads for me to use with both.

My MVS games, lacking the aforementioned Neo Turf Masters I'll hopefully be getting next week. Favorites are Pulstar (which I've no-missed), Neo Drift Out (best time 7:29.17, could improve that by quite a bit...), Shock Troopers, Last Resort...well, they're all great games. I've had several others but have sold them because I accomplished what I wanted with them. Like clearing Cyber-Lip and Ganryu.

Maybe worth noting that I don't have (and never have had) a single fighting game for the system. I'm sure the idea of a Neo Geo player who doesn't do fighters is somewhat perverse to many, considering those are what it's most famous for. But I find the system's output of other genres equally good.

The fighters are my least favorite Neo Geo games - I know they're pretty high quality but I'm just not a fan of fighting games. I'm mainly interested in the shmups and platformers (and RPGs for the Pocket Color).

Nice stuff, Ghegs!

I've also recommended RGB to others - he did a 4p supergun for me awhile back - he does exceptional work.

No miss on Pulstar - very nice and something i've def. not done yet. I've been working on Prehistoric Isle II lately.

For some reason - I still don't have Neo Drift Out. I have Thrash Rally and Overtop though. I do have a bunch of fighters and am looking to grab Ninja Masters next, though I def. think the platformers and run 'n guns not named Metal Slug are still under-hyped.

I approve :D

A fantastic idea for a topic.

I collect exclusively for Neo Geo Pocket, and NGPC. Both portable hardware and cart games. I once dabbled in collecting MVS, but eventually chose to stick with the Neo Pocket. I believe at somepoint I came to the decision that if I were ever to collect for an arcade platform, it would be for the Sega NAOMI. In any event. I started my collection by purchasing a Blister Pak (Neo portable/6 games variation) at an electronics retailer for $50. I enjoy the platform very much and have been purchasing games since. Whether, loose carts, cardboard box packaging, or hardcase packaging. If I can play it, I buy it.

Will post my collection soon. I'm currently not home.

I recently acquired a neo geo MVS. I only have metal slug and aero fighters 2 for it but that's cool. I do have an AES that I have collected for awhile now. I own the following
1.KOF 94-03 JP
2. Pulstar JP
3. MOW JP
4. Samurai spirits 1-4 JP
5. Metal slug 4( relatively cheap, well compared to the rest) JP
After that I just have a bunch of the under 250 titles. I once dreamed of getting a complete collection, but with the increase in price since I started collecting 8 years ago, and the rampancy of bootlegs it's really impossible for me to fathom trying to complete it at this point. I'm sorry, if I have several grand to throw around, I'm going to put that back to buy a 59 elco.

I also have a neo geo pocket color. I HATE this thing. It has like 3 or 4 games that I like. Saying that it has the best 2 button fighters is like saying its the smartest kid with Down syndrome. I know that's in poor taste, but man I just don't understand the appeal of this thing. Maybe I'll break it out one day and try to play it again.

I'll upload some picks of my collection when I can get the spare time. I'm so horrifically sick right now. The flu betray me!

Would love to see your AES collection. Can you offer some tips on spotting AES boots - aside from obvious poor label scans, and short of opening the cart and risking damage, are there any other giveaways?

As for NGPC, I see where you're at, and I felt the same the first time I had one, but the second time I convinced myself to get one again, I really enjoyed it and found myself playing it more than DS and GBA. My only gripe is the light of course and i never buckled down and tried to do a backlight mod.

Same with me, I just don't care for fighting games, though I have been known to play some Soul Calibur with friends. As Kilik, of course. I've been wanting to get into Neo Geo's puzzle games, maybe with Money Idol Exchanger, but I've never been able to get into any puzzle game that doesn't have Tetris in its name.

Yeah, Metal Slugs tend to overshadow most of the system's other games, regrettably. I think the first one and X are quite enough for me on that series. How is Overtop? I do want to get that too eventually.

Only the super-expensive Neo games are bootlegged right?

Please tell me there aren't any Magician Lord or Super Spy boots.

@johnny turbo - I agree the fighting games on the NGPC aren't exactly stellar, but there's a killer library of platformers, puzzle games, sports games, and even a few RPGs.

AES, bootlegs on $100-ish and up, Super Spy and Magician Lord should be safe. They aren't as easy, or rather, not as cost effective to bootleg as MVS.

MVS, bootlegs exist on just about anything that does over $40, sadly. Not sure why, but they're out there. Pretty easy to spot though by checking the PCB's and takes 2 minutes to open a cart and post a pic. AES, much more difficult to open of course :/

I like Overtop quite a bit, yeah. It has the classic arcade arrows that tell you what direction the next turn is coming. It has really cool visuals, going under bridges and through tunnels, etc - headlights come on and the like. It plays pretty fast, so there's a bit of learning curve, even with the arrows.

It not exclusive to just the very expensive ones. There is just more bootlegs in circulation of the sought after ones.

Gals Fighters! That is all. and yes the pocket does indeed have some real fun puzzlers and sports games.
