Yeah, that sucks, but I've never had it happen to me 'cause I make a habit of keeping an eye on the clerks as I check out (at any store, not just Gamestop).
Way too many of the complaints about Gamestop on this thread are buyer beware issues where a drop of common sense would have solved the issue.

I find it really hard to imagine that any town big enough to sustain a GameStop wouldn't have pawn shops, thrift stores, craigslist, flea markets, garage sales, goodwill, etc.BurningDoom wrote: Easier said than done for some people. Plus even if you somehow don't have access to those things, there's ebay/amazon and b/s/t threads here.

Really? GameStop is like the Wal-Mart of game stores. It's EVERYWHERE. In the U.S., at least.AppleQueso wrote:I find it really hard to imagine that any town big enough to sustain a GameStop wouldn't have pawn shops, thrift stores, craigslist, flea markets, garage sales, goodwill, etc.
BTW, notice the capitalized Goodwill. I'm talking the huge chain of big thrift stores. I can often find good deals on games there. The mom-n-pop thrift stores, almost never.

A town doesn't have to be very big to sustain a store like Gamestop, sure. Doesn't have to be very big to sustain a pawn shop or a thrift store either.BurningDoom wrote:Really? Has happend to me too, although the game was complete with manual, the case i took off the shelf was better than the one i had when i got home, ill be watching from now on though and calling those cheap-skates out.girlracer wrote:I finally have a rant about gamestop. I picked a game off the shelf that had the art and manual, then when I got home and got them out of the bag the employee switched it with gamestop printed case.
this was an out of town gamestop so now I have to go to my local to try to get it complete.
Re: Is Gamestop Evil? The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
I have to watch when I bring up the case and not only to keep the CIB copy I pulled from the shelf. Due to some game cases having disc hubs that are too tight, I usually have a habit of asking the employee to leave the disc in the envelope. One time the employee attempted to put the enveloped disc inside the case I brought up. Not in the manual holder section but right in the middle ready to be crushed by the hub and manual holder clips!! Really, is an employee that ignorant? After that occurred, I always request the employee to let me hold the disc separate.Hazerd wrote:Has happened to me too, although the game was complete with manual, the case i took off the shelf was better than the one i had when i got home, ill be watching from now on though and calling those cheap-skates out.girlracer wrote:I finally have a rant about gamestop. A side benefit of obtaining the yellow envelopes is that they make great storage for bonus CDRs and DVDRs I burn for some games. Things such as converted PAL to NTSC games and HTML Guides are stored on disc right in manual holder. A two disc holder is preferred, but uncommon in the original game case.

Check it out - http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.ph ... ostcount=1
Finally picked up Deus Ex: Human Revolution for myself. Sweet deal. I wish I had more cashflow atm.

The guys and gals at my local GS are peaches. Love shopping there.pepharytheworm wrote: Or an easier solution don't shop at Gamestop.
I'm being a bit of a grumpy Gus, but so many of the GS complaints on this thread are quite silly. Almost plays out like:
Is Old Navy evil? The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
"I purchased a green v-neck cable knit sweater at old navy, and when I got home and opened the bag I found a polyester purple sweater vest. Like, wtf?"
"Screw Old Navy, seriously. Somehow during check out the cashier swapped my slim cut jeans for boot cut jeans, and now I have to wear boot cut jeans because he also didn't give me a receipt. What an idiot!"
"I asked the lady at the dressing room if a shirt I liked was new, and she said 'yes'. It smelled a bit like armpit, but I bought it anyway. Well, when I try to return it, they're all 'this smells like armpits' and won't give me the refund I deserve. Eff Old Navy".

But gutted games are a legitimate gripe. It not only sucks that you can't find full case games at GameStop, but it also makes it harder to find them in the used market outside of GameStop.

Re: Is Gamestop Evil? The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
I should stockpile full case games so I can resell them for quadrouple the price. If anyone complains, I'll just lecture them about the free market and supply and demand.
I'm not a glitch, I just have pixlexia.
