What's the best PSP to have for those of us that don't mod?
I know I don't want a PSP Go, but out of the thousands models, which do I want?

3000's the latest UMD compatible one, and it's not like the 2000s are really any cheaper.
I really like my 3000. I did get it modded, because it's really really easy, but I don't' really do much with it on that end.

Yup - just get the 3000. That's what I have and I love it. You can get a new unit for like $100 now.

Any 2k or 3k model should suffice.BurningDoom wrote:Since we're on the subject:

You will wind up modding it though so you don't have to wear out your umd drive and scratch up your games.

So Odin Sphere, thumbs up or thumbs down? I bought it last night on psn when I was drunk since it was only $5. Never played it and don't really knew much about it besides it's from atlus.

It's "from Atlus" in the sense that it was published by Atlus. It's a Vanillaware game.flex wood wrote:So Odin Sphere, thumbs up or thumbs down? I bought it last night on psn when I was drunk since it was only $5. Never played it and don't really knew much about it besides it's from atlus.
It's a decent game, though there's massive slowdown in the PS2 version. Don't know if this happens in the PSN port.
The same developer made Muramasa: The Demon Blade for the Wii - I like that game much better.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Yeah, Odin Sphere is fun but not amazing. It gets repetitive and besides that the game is sort of clunky in general. Things like the in-battle menu system, planting seeds, cooking items, leveling up, etc are all kind of sluggish elements considering that the game is a beat 'em up at its core.
It's not worth ruling out though, the art is awesome and as a beat 'em up the game is definitely competent.

I never completely shut off my 3000Valkyrie-Favor wrote:
If you don't care about the awesome metal chassis or nearly useless homebrew, an early 2000 model is probably the best. If you're a sucker for video quality, try out a 3000 for yourself. You'll just have to sit through 15 second loading times for PRO CFW.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Yea I know atlus only published the game but they tend to usually only bring good games over so I figured why not. I like it so far it reminds me of valkyrie profile but I'm only about 30 minutes in. If I end up hating it at least I'm only out 5 bucks.BoneSnapDeez wrote:It's "from Atlus" in the sense that it was published by Atlus. I've been meaning to pick up a Wii just for Muramasa actually, that game just looks so good.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I've come to a conclusion. As much as I hate the idea that indie games should cost a lot, I think new Dreamcast games SHOULD cost $50-ish. Seriously. The reason being that though these are small studios, I think it should be lucrative for such releases. If it were, then we'd get way more releases. If folks were making profits instead of just doing it for labor of love, then really the DC has no reason to ever die. It's a competent 2D powerhouse. Amiright? I mean "/obvious" right?
