With folk, it happens on some songs. There was a decent amount going on when I went to the Turisas concert, but the majority of stuff was yelling along with the singer. Great night that one was.

Never been to Sludge or Doom concerts, I'm just going by the music itself. Honestly though, I prefer to be right up on the stage throwing horns and yelling like a rabid idiot.

That album is awfully silly in places, but it's got some cool stuff. I didn't hear it until way later, but it's practically a strange proto-painkiller. "Monsters of Rock" being literally about monsters made of rock always makes me chuckle.
New Shit:
Judas Priest - Painkiller (finally listened to the whole damn album)
Emperor - In the Nightside Eclipse (pretty good, runs together in my head)
Celtic Frost -To Mega Therion (I like this more than the previous EP, dig the riffage)
Approve! Painkiller is pretty great all around.

I gotta agree about that Emperor album. It's cool, but it does run together a lot and it's hard for me to remember any actual songs.

Celtic Frost is just awesome. I'm guessing you're making your way through their discography? Into the Pandemonium is really strange, but definitely worthwhile. Cold Lake, while not being quite as bad as people make it seem, is a really bizarre album to listen to. A band like Celtic Frost has no business attempting hair metal. Haven't ever listened to Vanity/Nemesis, but Monotheist is fantastic.

--as for the moshing thing, honestly I never get out to shows much. I saw some shitty local bands once and there was a tiny bit of moshing there, but it was like 8 people so it wasn't too nuts.

Gotta love that Emperor album.

Funny how it's listed as "new shit" (that's how I would list it too) - it's almost 20 years old!

I think he just means "new" as in "I only recently gave it a spin"

I picked this up last night actually, but haven't given it a listen yet.
Have you heard their first album? This one is a bit more varied and shows them experimenting with their sound a little bit. On my first listen, I didn't like it. On repeat listens I've come to like it more and more. The first album is a little more straight forward and accessible I think, and overall a little bit more aggressive, but I like them both. It's good to see them not trying to recycle the same formula. You can see each song on this new one trying something a little different from the other songs on the album, but it all still sounds uniquely Kvelertak with their black metal/punk rock influences and unintelligible, foreign lyrics.

Groovy. Hope to have a Folk Metal band come to my area soon. ;)

I thought the same thing before I saw Pentagram and Saint Vitus. I thought there'd be moshing for some of the high energy songs such as Hallow's Victim, Gorgon's Slave, and Sign of the Wolf. I was pretty disappointed.

Ram it Down is cool as hell with songs like Hard as Iron (my favorite) and the title track. I can appreciate the album's silliness also with songs like Heavy Metal and Love Zone with the former really capturing what I think of when I think of Judas Priest.

Yep yep.

Yep again, I never really got into Black Metal before so Emperor's first full length is my "new shit".
