Ok now come on. Since when does working at gamestop make you knowledgeable about, or show that you even enjoy videogames? I've tried and failed many times to have conversations with these people. They never know what I'm talking about. The only things gamestop employees are ever into are Halo and Rock Band/Guitar Hero. And the girls are even less reliable, though Gamestop knows that a nerd is more likely to buy what a cute girl recommends to them.
Actually, she took the time to educate herself a bit while she worked there. She became a fan of the Dreamcast and started searching online for a few titles while she used her employee discount to round out her PS2 and Gamecube collections.
... the reason I asked if anyone here commenting on this thread was a girl was to point out that guys don't get girls... heck, I don't get girls most of the time, but I have a better intuitive understanding than most. I still say that holaback's girl is just pushing boundaries and that if he has that much reserve to ask for advice it probably means he is picking up on vibes he knows he shouldn't cross- or at least he has enough awareness to know her behaviour isn't normal.
Ack, your girlfriend does not play a few rounds of "something" on the PS2... let's not understate the hours clocked in different RPGs or Virtua Fighter... Epic MegaGames... Battletoads... Snake... ROMs... so what if it's not all esoteric?
And as for Gamestop, I met a guy with Silent Hill tattoos and he loved older games.
