I've never been able to stomach more than 5 minutes of it. It irks and annoys.

I think it is just an age thing, tbh. I think these shows are for people 5-10 years younger than me what shows like Animaniacs or Darkwing Duck were for me back when I was a kid. When Dexter's Lab and so on got started up, I was well past the target demo.

In fact, looking here I can see a total of one show I've moderately enjoyed (the original Clone Wars) and that one was only becasue of a unhealthy affection for the IP. And no, I didn't care for Samurai Jack, either.

I have liked a half dozen Adult Swim cartoons over the years, but I don't think I've enjoyed watching anything new on that channel in about a decade.
Might you be interested in more serious, adult oriented programs? Because some of those DC shows I mentioned like Justice League Unlimited and Green Lantern TAS seemed very much aimed at older audiences despite what their target demos were supposed to be. JLU was actually a prime time show for a while, and some of the stories they were doing really reflected a move away from kiddie stuff

Much as I hate CN at the moment, I owe them for great moments like this:

Unless it is actually written primarily FOR adults, I can't really get interested in animated TV anymore. Even then, most "adult" animated fare is really geared towards young adults, and I feel myself slipping further and further away from that demographic (especially as I work with them everyday  )

Most super hero stuff is also aimed at kids/new adults in a way that I am finding increasingly less interesting. I think I've genuinely enjoyed a total of one comic book film in the past four years (TDKR). By contrast, I probably enjoyed about a half dozen or more superhero films between 2004-2008. Maybe the films have just gotten a lot worse, or maybe the stories just no longer appeal to me.

Fair enough, but JLU dealt with some adult themes that I think go far beyond kid's programming. Politics, father issues, distrust of people with too much power, duty to one's country versus loyalty to friends, nuclear fall out, fate and destiny, etc, etc. It had some dark story elements and once it went prime time, they started doing stuff that was clearly for adults, like implied sex scenes between characters. In the last season or so, it felt like an adult program, course you still had lots of explosions, fights, and what not. It was a comic book show after all

That's why my absolute dream job would be to work at WB Animation as a writer/storyman. I'm nuts about cartoons and right now, WB is the best there is at what they do, bar none. I seriously wish they would make a second season of Thundercats. CN never said it was cancelled, just that it was "on hiatus", so I'm hoping they'll at least let them do half a season just to finish the storyline 'cause the show is too good to be left hanging like it was. Leaving it unfinished would be an absolute tragedy IMO.

Edit: DAMN IT, CN! Checking wikipedia it turns out Thundercats has officially been cancelled. They apparently announced such last month. DAMN IT DAMN IT DAMN IT! I officially loathe them now.
I'm not a glitch, I just have pixlexia.

You are not alone DSH, I have a similar opinion to them. Johnny Bravo was good for a quick laugh but didnt provide me lasting enjoyment, it becomes grinding. But I disagree on Samurai Jack, that show is awesome.

I'm with Dish on this one.

Not saying CN puts out bad shows, it's that they don't put out shows that I have any interest in. After Space Ghost Coast to Coast, nothing has lured me in. And hey, CN may not be a cash cow, but surely they are a profitable network. Although I don't agree with some of their practices (why air a pilot at 2am?) they seem to know their demo well.

But we already have a Western Animation thread for this kind of discussion (which is kinda funny as most "Western Animation" is produced overseas).
