Never played any of the games in the series. Excited to check this one out. Anyone want to tell me anything about it before I dive in later?
You realize the Shining Force games are part of a larger "Shining series" right?

If you're OCD about game order like me you may want to start with the first Shining game - Shining in the Darkness.

Shining in the Darkness is pretty dated at this point though. I played it when I was a kid but never finished it.

That said, even though its a bit simple, Shining Force is excellent.

Great post! Similarly, if you're going to get into Shining Force III, play Shining the Holy Ark prior. It's a direct prequel.

I love the ways the shining force series tie together. It's definitely NOT like Final Fantasy.

I'm very much aware, but I was more interested in the srpgs.

Shining in the Darkness is dirt cheap anyway, so if I really want to check it out it's not like it'll cost me much.

It's boring as fuck, just saying. Couldn't get past the first dungeon because of how annoying it was. Couldn't walk without a enemy attacking.
And the dungeon is in first person and is a maze.

A dungeon crawler where you spend most of the game crawling through a dungeon? Who would've thought!

I know what Shining in the Darkness is already.

I started playing like Arcana and damn does it remind me a lot of Shining in the Darkness.

So what are some of the ones you like, kid? What numbers from Might & Magic, Wizardry, the AD&D games, Obitus, Dungeon Master, the early Megaten games, Arcana, etc.?
