Reading this post while listening to Dismember - Like An Ever Flowing StreamForlorn Drifter wrote:I guess that's why I'm not a fan of normal death metal. Too much focus on gore and such. As much as I like that, I don't need music for it. I get my gore fix from movies, videogames, books and such. Not in my music though.
Gotta love Sunlight Studio back in the day.

Re: Metal Heads Assemble!!
How do you guys feel about moshing?
I get into it, assuming its done in the correct way. I've gone to two shows where people do this weird shit where they fling their arms around and kick, and I can't stand that shit. They also don't let you out of the pit if need be, along with not picking ANYBODY up if they fall. What the fuck?! Part of metal is the camaraderie, and when a fucker kicks me in the face and doesn't help me up, I want to knife him rather than shake hands.
One other thing is what styles of metal its appropriate in. Death? Check. Black? Check. Thrash? Duh. Folk? Pretty often. (Pumping your fist and chanting also appropriate.) Power? With the thrashier bands. Sludge? Sometimes. Doom/Heavy? Ehhh...

I picked this up last night actually, but haven't given it a listen yet. I also picked up Metallica's ...And Justice For All, Pantera's Far Beyond Driven, and Black Label Society's Hangover Music Vol. VI to fill some holes and replace albums I used to own but have vanished over the years, so instead of giving Kvelertak their chance to shine, I spent last night reveling in older goodness.Gamerforlife wrote:Really digging the new Kvelertak album.

Turns out it was an internet hoax. So we're still getting W.A.S.P.'s new album! Whoo hoo!BurningDoom wrote:Blackie Lawless, lead-singer of WASP, died in a car accident today. R.I.P.
Reports are saying drugs and alcohol weren't involved.

Re: Metal Heads Assemble!!
I made a post about this a couple days ago. That got deleted and I got pissed. Instead, I'm going to post a shorter version:
I took a break from Thrash for about two months; been listening to Traditional Heavy Metal, Black Metal and Power Metal instead. I've re-listening a few of my favorites, but it's mostly been new shit.
Favorites:
White Wizzard - Over the Top
Judas Priest - Ram it Down
Gaia Epicus - Satrap (sorta)
New Shit:
Judas Priest - Painkiller (finally listened to the whole damn album)
Gamma Ray - Heading for Tomorrow (first half was great, didn't like the second half)
Sabaton - Primo Victoria (killer Power Metal, really should've listened to this sooner)
Emperor - In the Nightside Eclipse (pretty good, runs together in my head)
Satyricon -Dark Medieval Times (same as above)
Celtic Frost -To Mega Therion (I like this more than the previous EP, dig the riffage)

I think you're referring to Hardcore Dancing. I can't stand that shit either. I've had people take it even further by purposely smacking people. Takes a lot for me to not beat the shit out of them. It's especially frustrating when chicks do it.Forlorn Drifter wrote:How do you guys feel about moshing?

I've never had that happen to me. I'm not sure what I'd do if I had that happen to me.They also don't let you out of the pit if need be, along with not picking ANYBODY up if they fall. I don't know about Folk and Power Metal, but for Doom and Sludge, I've never had a mosh pit. I've been to several Doom Metal concerts including Pentagram, Saint Vitus, and The Gates of Slumber and none of them had a mosh pit. Same with the Sourvein, Cough, and Black Tusk. The last of which played in between two Thrash Metal bands. One other thing is what styles of metal its appropriate in. Death? Check. Black? Check.
