Who won tonights Presidential Debate? 9/26
Please, dont vote for who you like, just vote for who won the debate.
There are 3 things I don't believe in, politics and math.

You do realize in general we refrain from discussing politics on this website...namely because it tends to lead to name calling, hissy fits, and all manner of other problems. In general it's not a pleasant road to go down.
If folks on the internet were capable of intelligent anonymous debate, Mozgus wouldn't get hatemail. But political debates become the worst, and generally seem to result in an argument. Having witnessed political discussion drive good members from good boards before, and having quit going to certain forums because of the political slants that emerged myself, I don't think it's right to discuss things.
Even more so, this site does cater to the international crowd who technically are working off even less information than the residents(as they don't get state or local news necessarily) yet still have a preferred choice in the election for various reasons. While they may be interested in hearing Americans thoughts on American issues and elections, from what I've seen, we Americans can't rationally handle the debate either.
Look, I've got my own bias and beliefs about this election too, as well as my own prejudices, but I'm still going to do my best and keep things civil. Keep it clean, lest we degenerate to the level of 4chan.

also if you are international and cant watch a debate, a "didnt watch it" option is there for you, or you can simply ignore the post.
so everybody just vote here and respect eachother.

I'd say look it up on Youtube if they were interested, but that also involves having to put up with things people edit in. Maybe C-SPAN will post it?
Speaking of which, does anybody else like to watch C-SPAN, or am I the only one?

We got the debate here in Australia .tbh I don't really have an opinion on who won.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

I agree! keep these kinda post off this site. I want retro game news not politics!

I strongly support political discussion here and anywhere else - that's one reason any website has a "Whatever" forum in the first place. If we can have a lengthy discussion about holaback's love life, we can certainly discuss who won the first debate.
I am an Obama supporter and I also think he won the debate - but barely. He can speak and think circles around McCain, and should have pushed harder to show this last night. He should have gotten away from his talking points more frequently, though both candidates were guilty of this.
Of course Obama has a decent lead in the polls right now, so it doesn't make sense for him to go on the attack or to be overly negative, as those are the strategies that (unfortunately) have to be used by the trailing candidate (which is why McCain tried to attack more than Obama). So while I would have liked to see him call out McCain's BS more often, he doesn't need to at this point.
That said, I was glad to see the serious tone taken by both candidates and it was one of the better/more useful debates I have seen - it reminded me of the first Clinton/Obama debate in that respect. And even though I strongly disagree with his arguments, I was impressed by how well McCain did - he exceeded my expectations as a debater and looked better than he did in the primaries.
I am curious about what the international members of the site think, if they caught any of the debate, since the topic was foreign policy. American military actions and diplomacy impact everyone, so I'd like to hear what you think of these two opposing worldviews.

Granted, I only caught about half of the debate because I was visiting with my mom, but from what I did see last night, and from the clips on the news this morning, I'd say that this debate was a wash. Both candidates just seemed content on trying not to say anything that can be taken out of context (though who can blame them with how the media spins everything?). I don't think it will affect polls at all. As dsheinem said, neither candidate strayed from their talking points, and that is a shame.

Re: Who won tonights Presidential Debate? 9/26
my 2 cents from watching the debate:
I did not like either one more or less from what was said. I did notice that there are many things, topics, that they agreed on only to differ in how it will be handled. The debate made me feel more comfortable with both candidates, for I think they both will improve our current situation.
I do have a candidate preference, and I choose to keep it to myself, but the debate strengthened my confidence in that man while making the other look competent enough to get the job done if he is elected.

Just a warning: Any heavy debating and this thread is closed.
I haven't watched it yet, but I did tell my Media Center to record it.
