Not a lot of Genesis shmups wowed me, but that one certainly did.NEO-GEO Man wrote:Bio Hazard Battle on Mega Drive is great. Its not too hard really.

Re: Good shmups for beginner
Gate of Thunder was the game that got me into shmups, I highly recommend it.
But if I had to pick one I'd say Sonic Wings Special for the PSX. It's fast paced, and there are some screen-fillers, but it's not quite bullet hell. When I was getting started, I often found DoDonPachi too frustrating and would play this instead... came damn close to a 1cc a couple of times too, if it weren't for that stupid boss in Moscow.
Still my fallback shmup, whenever I really feel like a shmup but don't know what to play... Check it out!
p.s. If you're a beginner, avoid Psikyo's other stuff like the plague... "...especially you, Gunbird 2!"

Einhander for PS1 is good for a beginner, and one of the best out there!

Its one of my favorites because of the pacing, for me feels like a casual game but I thought it was really well done and I get excited every time I play it.noiseredux wrote:Einhander is good for beginners, but not one of the best haha.
