I understand that this is a joke thread, but all video games are not “art,” although some certainly are. Just as not all paintings are art, or all books or all music.

By definition, a game is just a set of rules for a competitive event that is meant to be engaged in for fun. This is ultimately opposed to art. Art is not bound by rules. Art is not a competition. Art is not required to be fun. Art is expression of something more meaningful, whether that be personal or universal. But art is not a game.

Therefore, video games are not art. They borrow visuals, music, storytelling, and cinematics from other arts, but the games themselves are not art and can never be art.

Im new to the forums, someone please tell me this is a joke..
