I honestly can't tell if this game was made for completion addicts or if it was made just to spite them. There is a lot of grinding involved, and every time I think I've caught everyone up in my party, I'm suddenly on a new chapter and all the normal enemies are 3-5 levels higher than I am. Grinding is a huge pain too, as the only characters who get experience are the ones who actually make the final blow to an enemy. This makes leveling up healers and such really annoying, as you find yourself unnecessarily putting them in harm's way all the time in hopes that they'll do team up attacks with a stronger physical attacker and gain some of their experience.

It's a shame, as I think the battle system itself is actually a lot of fun and I love the characters and overall sense of humor, but the tediousness of keeping your party in good shape might be a bit too much for me. I really don't like having to grind in RPGs, and I don't know if I'm just approaching things wrong or what, but this one seems to be all about the grind.
I told you this game eats away at your life.

You do the grinding in the item world. There you get to beef up your characters and the bonus freebies of new weapons and armor.

I think the game expects you to do this.

Disgaea is so insane you can actually choose to make the game even harder. Or easier if you are a weak sauce.

These damn games draw you in, and never let you go.

We played a game for March on our "Shmup of the Month" thread called Air Gallet. Most people would look and judge a shmup on how good the mechanics or scoring system or many other game-style factors. Not many shmups put graphics or sound as a priority, but this one had a lot of style. The opening cutscene was very special, and you may not notice what you flyover in a shmup, but there were many awesome city scenes of Japan and other places, the Stage 1 boss was a space shuttle taking off in a dramatic bout of animation, and on Stage 3 you zoomed into a battleship much like once scene in 19XX The War Against Destiny. There was a lot of good music too. This was developed by Gazelle, a company formed by ex-Toaplan members, much like Cave and Raizing a few years later. I had a lot of fun with this one.

I like handheld gaming a lot more than I ever used to.

I had this experience a few years ago. Was never a big fan and then it grew on me (the portable Castlevania games helped a lot).

I'm the complete opposite...
Growing up, I always had a Game Boy, GameGear, or even those mini Pokemon/Digimon games in hand. Today, I'm always forgetting my PSP at home and even though I have emulators on my phone, I rarely use them. I keep trying to get back into it, but I always set it down and forget it.

The last 20 minutes or so of Bioshock Infinite are intense, riveting, and stupid-grin inducing. A great game start to finish, and one of the more compelling examples of games as a storytelling medium you will likely ever see.

I haven't played any of the Bioshock (or the System Shock) games.

Bioshock is really cheap now though, been contemplating picking it up.

Apparently a toddler liked my "bouncing watermelong dog" avatar and gave me a thumbs up at another forum

It's free (and on the disc) with Bioshock Infinite on PS3. Grab that, you won't be disappointed with either.
