Replacing an SMS/GEN/32X Battery

Post by ReddMcKnight »

Hey all. I recently learned that Digi-Key carries the battery I need to replace my Sega Game Batteries, but I don't know the length of the tabbed batteries I need. The two available are 15mm and 20mm. Does anyone know which size I need? I.E., Does anyone know the length of the batteries already in the carts?

Wouldn't it be better to use coin holders in case the battery dies again?

Probably, but I don't think they would fit in the cart, nor do I know how to install them.

They're super easy to install, only two wires to worry about and you can fit most of them in just about any type of cart.

The battery holder is great, sure, but I've never been able to find one thin enough. I know, of course, that they DO exist but I haven't ever bought any that were thin enough.

15 and 20mm is the size of the tab length? Just buy the 20mm one and if it's too long then cut it down to fit. Better than being too short.

The ones in there are 2032. The 20 part of that is the diameter in mm. For tabs, you just want one that you can work with the bits on the board.
