Yes, it sucks theres no classic controller support but play the game for more than 2 hours and you'll get used to the waggle controls. In fact it's awesome to do speed runs with those waggle controls, it really gives the gameplay a nice feel of momentum to it.

I can't think of any game from recent years with this good level design and challenging gameplay. This game is really hard and challenging if you want to get 200% but it's not broken, you just need to practice.

I loved DKCR! I didn't feel the waggle really got in the way as much as I expected it would. I would've preferred it wasn't there for sure, but it really wasn't as much of a pain as alot of people would have you think.

Hopefully the 3DS port will make more people realize how great a game it was!

Talk about your unpopular opinion! I thought I was alone on this one, so I'm glad to see someone else share this rather unpopular opinion.

I obviously love ogre battle (see avatar). I would be hard pressed to say it is my favorite in the series. I think Tactics Ogre os my favorite. But I like the turn this convo has taken. Ogre Battle is perhaps my most beloved series. I sported an ogre battle shirt the Friday at PAX.

What are the differences between Let Us Cling together in regards to SNES vs PSX/Saturn?

To be fair, it is probably unpopular simply because not that many people have played the Ogre games in the United States. I haven't played any of them, but they all look very good.

I played Donkey Kong Country Returns a few months after it had come out at a friends house (we played quite a few sessions), and it was probably the best Wii game I had played (after some reflecting RE4 is probably the best). I was quite shocked at how different it handled, it was more loose and fluid, and the stage design was more challenging. DKCR seemed to focus on actual precision platforming which is what I probably enjoy the most when it comes to platform games. DKCR has amazing reviews, but I rarely see anyone call it the best Wii game (but I have seen plenty of people call DKC the best SNES games), and it's never mentioned as the best DKC game (DKC2 or 1 usually get that honor).

I love the roll jump with the wii controls, it just feels so right. I could do with out the ground smash motion though.

Yeah I love the Ogre Battle series - if only the games weren't so damn expensive! Actually, now that I think of it OB64 is the only one I actually own. Payed about $35 for a cart two years ago. Too bad the series seems to be on hold though... No new games since, what - 2001?

In that case I agree with you. Well, I prefer N64 over pre-NES consoles and quite possibly the SMS.

This. There's a lot of people who grew up on Nintendo 64 who think it's the shit because of their rose tinted glasses. I love cartoony games and I have a high tolerance for "outdated 3D" graphics and games and I can tell that a lot of the popular N64 games like Banjo-Kazooie and Ocarina of Time are bad if you look at them objectively. On the other hand those (S)NES games that are hyped (Donkey Kong Country, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG and so on) are good games regardless of did you play them as a kid or not.

As opposed to the "wonderful" 3D of games such as Daytona USA for the Saturn?

As far as I know, they differ pretty much only in graphics and a little bit in music. Oh, and the Super Famicom version of TO wasn't released in the US.

I though was talking about Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen, which - with Ogre Battle 64 - is a very different type of SRPG, perhaps closer actually to an RTS.

Well, they did release a version of TO for the PSP which is different, but I don't know what all they changed. And $35 for OB64 is a good price. MotBQ pushes $70, but I think they're well worth it. I really love the style, and I wish desperately for more games to be made like it, if not a new title in the series (but in the Ogre Battle series, not the Tactics Ogre series).

What's the best version of that game?

Doh! I have that - totally forgot. I'll probably pick up the Super Famicom original someday and skip out on the super-pricey PSX version.

I've only played them for their original system, but the PS1 version of MotBQ is supposedly the best. It's Japanese only, though. Both OB and OB64 are on the Virtual Console, which makes them available, I suppose.
