best format to watch past wrestlemania's/ fav.wrestlemania

Post by mas »

I went to walmart today with the family to get food and stuff for the house when what do I see but wrestlemania 1-28on dvd and blue ray. wrestlemania 1-17 is on dvd and the rest were either blue ray or dvd format. The first 17 wrestlemania's are 10.00 a piece. Got me thinking to pick these bad boys up.
Now I just want to ask anyone out there what is the best format to watch wrestlemania's of the past? Now I have a vhs, dvd, and blue ray player. I know the best quality will be blue ray but is it true that wwe edited the past wrestlemania with cutting out footage and changing the sounds of the crowd or signage or even music? does anyone know if this is true?
All I want to pick up is 1-19 and I know all 19 is on vhs, dvd. I also want to know what was your favorite wrestlemania? Not just one moment but the entire program. Mine is either 5 or 6

Atleast they've done it to certain entrance themes when it comes to ECW wrestlers/old ECW footage, because they don't have the rights to play the songs. And they've censored the WWF logo. I've heard that they "censored" the boos directed at John Cena to protect his image. I wouldn't be so surprised if they've censored their older footage because during the attitude/ruthless aggression era even the fan signs and audience chants were more "edgy" (ie chanting asshole/slut/whore and that kind of stuff).

I'm sure the older Wrestlemanias (1-12/13 or so) are unedited. I recommend torrenting VHS rips of attitude era PPVs if you want the full experience (no censoring), many of those do have a good picture quality. I've got Over the Edge 1999 (the PPV where Owen Hart died that was never released/sold afaik) which was recorded from TV or something and the video and sound quality is fine.

Just was looking on eBay. Some of the vhs tapes cost just as much as the DVD's I saw today. I did some history and the Wwf/e did change music. Hulk hogan's first theme eye of the tiger in wrestlemania 1 was changed to real American due to vince not wanting to pay rights for survivor. Wtf is that all about.

No reason to pay for a VHS tape if there's a DVD/Bluray option unless you're a collector
