Meh. There are tons of companies filled with tons of programmers who can do that stuff. They're not special or unique and that doesn't impress meMenegrothx wrote:Gamerforlife wrote: Sadly, this seems to be the formula for most hyped up games now. Copy/paste gameplay, pretty graphics, and stories desperately trying to copy Hollywood. It's all so boring, and Uncharted epitomizes all of that. Anybody could make an Uncharted game. There's no inspired vision or creativity there.![]()

Are you a programmer? Do you have any idea what kind of math and physics you have to know in order to be able to make a game like Uncharted, even if the game is based on a ready made engine? And level design is certainly not a cake walk either: making the optimal route for the player and designing all the beautiful scenery of those games.

People like Femito Ueda with unique vision who aren't copying everything else on the market, they impress me. And in the grand scheme of themes, they matter more.
Damn right.General_Norris wrote:Uncharted is to Indiana Jones what Twilight is to Nosferatu.Menegrothx wrote: You could say that there's no inspired vision or creativity in Indiana Jones movies either, because that's what the Uncharted games are, they were designed the same way.

Yeah I get sick of this, lol. Running through Lost Odyssey again and finally finishing it off (soon), has been an absolute blast.o.pwuaioc wrote:This has got to be the what, second time? we agree on something.Jmustang1968 wrote:I find it a bit amusing how the JRPGs are being described negatively as antiquated on a site that celebrates retro games.
To be fair, a few members here aren't really retroists, but modernists who happen to like a couple retro games. I know I've seen far too often "I mostly play my PS3/360/PSP/Wii these days".
*shrugs*
de gustibus and all that.
I guess for something that fits the thread, I liked The Last Remnant a lot.

Still not getting the full picture without an Amiga thrown into the mix in some capacity. Those 4 formats are, in my opinion, the golden age of gaming.BoneSnapDeez wrote:You really need the trio - SNES, Genesis, TG16.AppleQueso wrote:As far as I'm concerned, the SNES and Genesis libraries are both so strong and so complimentary that really, you need both. Also, I can't understand people getting upset in this topic. Every opinion is going to be unpopular, nobody should be on trial here. They're just opinions, after all.

Well if we throw the Amiga into the mix we also need the Atari ST, right?TheSonicRetard wrote:Still not getting the full picture without an Amiga thrown into the mix in some capacity. On the topic of Uncharted - it's bad. Feels like a series of cutscenes with some half-assed gameplay sprinkled in. I'll pass.

It was "24 bit", so it doesn't count.BurningDoom wrote:Neo Geo AES?TheSonicRetard wrote:That's the spirit! 16-bit greatnessBoneSnapDeez wrote:

Don't forget the Capcom Power System Changer, too.BurningDoom wrote:Neo Geo AES?TheSonicRetard wrote:That's the spirit! 16-bit greatnessBoneSnapDeez wrote:

God bless that era of gaming.
That was a bit of Diehard Gamefan nonsense. The m68k in the Neo Geo AES is 16-bit, although if we're getting technical, the 68EC020 in the Amiga 1200 is 32-bit.o.pwuaioc wrote:It was "24 bit", so it doesn't count.
And, of course, the HuC6280 in the TG-16 is 8-bit.
