Yet they are constantly labeled as a favorite enemy, so Digital Extremes decided to make a game about them invading the Federation. They've been modernized of course, but maybe we'll get lucky and see at least one that looks like a guy in a cheap monster suit.Stark wrote:Huh, have we seen any of those since the original series? This is the Star Trek made by Digital Extremes? They did a great job with The Darkness II, I'm looking forward to this one.Ack wrote:So the Gorn are the big enemy in the upcoming Star Trek game!

So my town turned down putting a Dave & Busters here. WTF?! I'd LOVE a barcade in this town. And I don't understand the big deal. We already have a ton of bars, and we have an arcade that just recently opened up with pool tables. So what's the big freaking deal about combing the 2 into 1?!

You mean a ticketcade and mediocre restaurant combo?BurningDoom wrote:So my town turned down putting a Dave & Busters here. WTF?! I'd LOVE a barcade in this town. And I don't understand the big deal. Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
From what I've read online from people, it depends on the location. Some are true arcades, and others are glorified adult Chuck E. Cheeses. But I'd love the opportunity to see which it would be, I don't even get that much.Hobie-wan wrote:You mean a ticketcade and mediocre restaurant combo?BurningDoom wrote:So my town turned down putting a Dave & Busters here. D&B was all right when I was going over 10 years ago. Tons of games, 8 player Daytona USA setup, it was where I 1CC'ed House of The Dead & Confidential Mission, I had the Gold Card for less pts per game and the "ticketcade" actually had really GOOD games and the prizes were a lot more extravagant than some plastic trinkets.

Disgaea... oh geez what have I gotten myself into?
I honestly can't tell if this game was made for completion addicts or if it was made just to spite them. There is a lot of grinding involved, and every time I think I've caught everyone up in my party, I'm suddenly on a new chapter and all the normal enemies are 3-5 levels higher than I am. Grinding is a huge pain too, as the only characters who get experience are the ones who actually make the final blow to an enemy. This makes leveling up healers and such really annoying, as you find yourself unnecessarily putting them in harm's way all the time in hopes that they'll do team up attacks with a stronger physical attacker and gain some of their experience.
It's a shame, as I think the battle system itself is actually a lot of fun and I love the characters and overall sense of humor, but the tediousness of keeping your party in good shape might be a bit too much for me. I really don't like having to grind in RPGs, and I don't know if I'm just approaching things wrong or what, but this one seems to be all about the grind.

I think I need to cave and buy an NES toploader. Both are my toasters are complete ass at this point. Bought a couple of NES games the other day and could only get them working on my Yobo NES clone, as the pins on both of the toasters are apparently shot. Eff.

Yeah I got tired of messing with the frontloader after a while and got a toploader myself. It's really nice, and with the proper av mod you can get composite out that's every bit as good as the frontloader.BoneSnapDeez wrote:I think I need to cave and buy an NES toploader. Have you ever used the dogbone controllers by any chance? They're smaller than they look, but they're also very comfy.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
My cousin had a top-loader long ago (actually, I should ask him if he still has it). He's younger than me so he started with the SNES and then went backwards to the NES - they were selling toploaders at the time. I was only 15 or so the last time I played one, but I remembered really like the console and controller.AppleQueso wrote:Yeah I got tired of messing with the frontloader after a while and got a toploader myself.
