I'd buy a Wii U for DQ X.

I know I'm in the extreme minority but online Dragon Quest sounds fun.

The Wii U will be closer to the Gamecube's level of sales then the Wii's for sure. The GameCube had great exclusives and made money for Nintendo and the Wii U will be no different.

I wouldn't look for much western third party support but I think exclusive games from Japanese developers will be quite good and worthwhile. Dragon Quest, Monster Hunter, and the games from Platinum are a good sign of this. I got into the GameCube, Wii, and DS really late and missed a lot. Still trying to play catch up. I vowed never again to overlook and miss out on Nintendo games again.

Anyway...just got Black Ops II for $30. Figure the unique features will be kinda neat and I'm willing to relearn CoD with the wiimote controls! @_@ Anyone play it somewhat regularly on here?

I'll start playing again with somebody to play with and a Wiimote. FPS games with Wiimotes is one of the few ways I can play FPS on console and not be infinitely frustrated by imprecise controls. It also lets you dominate anybody using a pro controller. :P

That was one of the key reasons I decided to get it on Wii U. I figure there'll be quite a learning curve though. Played previous CoD games on PS3.

Same reason I am considering Bioshock Infinite on PS3. It's got PS Move support. Seems like it'd be a lot more fun that way than with the regular controller. And I am normally not a big FPS fan.

isiolia, EA's support of the Mass Effect and Madden release were also sub-par (Madden didn't even have all the features)

And, so far, Battlefield 4 is actually launching on current consoles. So, no there is no excuse for it to be missing from Wii U for tech reasons which at this point in time is a flaky argument at best. This is not a "oh, guys, Frostbite 3 just won't run on Wii U" sort of issue.

And, my point was that one publisher who openly had qualms with other aspects of the console is the one showing they don't have future support ... which doesn't constitute this "third parties aren't making games for it" blanket statement that's going around right now. The reality is, we still don't know yet if it's the case. The thing hasn't been out long enough.

But we DO know that there are few announced. The PAX East showing of the Wii U was abysmal in terms of A) new games announced for the system B) third party games announced for the system. A port of a game that will be like two years old (Deus Ex HR) that has already been $10 and under on consoles/PC is not a good announcement.

Someone above suggested the Wii U has a vibrant current/upcoming indie library. Is this true? is there Wii U exclusive indie stuff there that is worth checking out/getting excited about?

Look, at some point I will buy a Wii U since I already buy basically every console at some point anyway. The question for me right now is A) do I wait until it has been discontinued and buy stuff on the cheap or B) do I buy it when new titles are coming out? Right now I see A as a much more compelling option...

This is kinda where I'm at. I didn't buy a PS3 or 360 until 2010-ish I think. Never had a problem.

Yea. I haven't heard too much about indie titles. But the Vita, on the other hand, is now starting to get quite a bit of indie support. Pleases me greatly.

I have a list of anticipated games that may interest me. I keep it to check on release dates and pre-order bonuses and such. Here is the Wii U section:
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD
The Wonderful 101

... And that is all.

I figured I'd buy the Wii U now while I have extra cash to spend.. I don't mind having one either.. I always have the option to sell it towards the purchase of a PS4..
