Discuss.
Cannot compute, mind blown.

Mana Khemia's actually made by Gust (Ar Tonelico, Atelier series) and was localized by NIS America - It actually has a few ties to the Atelier Series (Like Pamela). They're owned by Tecmo Koei now though, so the NISA localizations could be coming to an end soon.

With regards to the RPG genre definitions, I think people are using the term way too broadly nowadays. Sure, you can say any and all games can and do have "RPG Elements" Any game you pick up you're playing a role in. It's generally noted by a lot of people I've talked to that "RPG" games tell a story and usually have a detached battle system - some type of transition to the battle segment that takes you out of the "story" world. Whether this battle is Active or Passive doesn't make a difference.

I'm being really narrow about this but when I think of RPG I think emphasis on story, strategic and oftentimes detached combat and character building that's not some FPS with perks stitched on, and a cast of characters with depth, though that's questionable to some RPG games.

So by my own definition I define Fallout 1 & 2 and Baldur's Gate to be RPGs, but Fallout 3 and Mass Effect to be poorly made First and Third person shooters with Stat and Perk building elements similarly seen in common RPGs.

Also yes, I hate Fallout 3 and the Mass Effect series. Atrocious games that make me sick just seeing them.

Unpopular gaming opinions?

*The Wii is my favorite system of the current gen.
*Resident Evil 4 isn't even the best game in its series
*Super Paper Mario is awesome!
*The N64 is my least favorite Nintendo system.
*The original BioShock is really overrated (want to play Infinite for sure though)
*I enjoyed Star Ocean 3 and 4
*Little Big Planet is a mediocre platformer only worth playing to see the user created levels

If you want to see FPSRPG done right, play System Shock 2, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines and Deus Ex, if you haven't played those yet. SS2 and Deus Ex both have awesome stories and Vampire the Masquerade has some high quality writing. S.T.A.L.K.E.R games are better survival simulator FPSRPG games than Fallout 3/New Vegas imo.

I can see them being not your preference, but atrocious and awful? Cmon now...

I'd love a thread on this, as I love challenging puzzles. Have you tried, Jelly No Puzzle yet? Very, very challenging.
Thread started. Please post your recommendations there.

Also, I have not tried Jelly No Puzzle. I will have to give it a shot.

EDIT: I will respond to thoughts on my "unpopular" opinions later.

Ah, see I knew the game was made by Gust, but I hadn't realized Gust published it themselves in Japan. I figured NIS just did the publishing for all 3 regions.

Oh well, I can hope that Zeo hates Gust, Compile Hearts, and Idea Factory as much as NIS, since they all seem to have a pretty similar style.

Ah ha, here is one that is probably unpopular

Compile Hearts > Compile

Resident Evil Rant

Resident Evil Outbreak files- the REO series is a way bigger compliment to the RE universe than RE 4 AND 5 could ever be.

Resident 6- Although it recieved guff for being a bad Resident evil game, I still very much enjoyed Leons campaign.

Resident Evil Revalations- Is a master piece and stomps all over the RE 4-5,
even with its new monsters and story plot. Just goes to show that you can change things and still keep a game close to its roots

"Shmup" is far more elegant!

Unless you believe in reincarnation, but I guess that wouldn't count since you have no memory of your former self when you come back.
So what we're saying is essentially that life is like a roguelike?

Couldn't even will myself to finish Leon's campaign even though I hear it's the best.

Revelations is indeed very good and a needed step in the right direction but "masterpiece" is a bit much.
