NES, SNES, GEN, ect game hacks/mods, any one?

Post by Ziggy »

I've been checking out a lot of hacked SNES games, particularly Mario World ones. Some of them are pretty cool. The Super Mario World engine, but with all new levels, how awesome is that?. There's also a few Mario Karts that I checked out, pretty cool. I wish I was able to hack games and create new levels, tracks, game modes or whatever.

There's actually tons of them out there, but I've only tried a handful so far. I've seen many Final Fantasy, Street Fighter, Chrono Trigger, Zelda, Mortal Kombat (even one with a blood enhancement), Castlevania, etc out there.

I also scored a SMB1 hack pack. Some of them are pretty cool. One is the normal SMB1 game but with Toad. There's one where all the enemies are replaced with sprites from all different NES games. I'm gonna have to try and find some Mega Man hacks.

Any one here played any hacked games? SNES, Genesis, NES, or whatever. If so, share which ones you liked and are worth playing! Share your experiences.

Super KKK Bros., a couple Castlevania hacks(can't remember names), and BS Zelda(not really the type of hack you're talking about). All worth playing if you're a fan of the game they're based on.

I've played alot of hacked games for the SNES and NES. Here's some of them that I enjoyed:

SNES Hacks:
Super Tecmo Bowl 3 : Final Edition (2001 hack roster)
Super Mario Quest (Super Mario World Hack with a Redone Mario World 2 Graphics)
Legend of Zelda: Parrell World

NES Hacks:
Super Mario Bros Adventure (Base on SMB3)

There's more, I just can't remember them......

There are SMB3 test levels that can be accessed through a game genie and there's a hack that has them accessible through a map, there's even the level at the back of the box that isn't anywhere in the game and a couple of Kuribo shoe stages

Cool.

Wow, you can even get the levels on the All Stars version too. Even better, I used the link toward the bottom of that page to patch the SMB3 ROM. The patch gives you the opening sequence with normal function, but then you start on a new map with 15 'lost' levels. Pretty cool.

Wow, didn't know they also were in the SNES version, maybe they ported the NES code with the same level data, only changing the graphics.

Yeah, it's pretty cool. I highly suggest downloading the patch for the SMB3 Lost Levels here:

http://themushroomkingdom.net/smb3_lost.shtml

You have to patch a ROM file yourself. Or, if any one wants, I'll upload a pre-patched file.

My newest adventure is Sonic the Hedgehog pirate/unlicensed SNES game. The game is pretty weird. As far as I can tell, there is no spin dash. And Mario is in the game! Another one I want to try out is Super Mario World pirate NES game. I haven't found it yet, but I'm sure its on UG.

I think the sonic game you are playing is a hacked version of Speedy Gonzalez for the Snes, have you checked that one out?

I'm not sure if it's the same game, but I have Super Mario World on my NesterDC disc that I downloaded through torrent.

If it is the same one, you're in for a major disappointment. It's almost as bad as 'Pussy City Pimps'.
