New Genres?

Post by durkada »

I love this site, but it appears my favorite genres are being neglected. Since there are boards for RPGs, SHUMPS and FIGHTERS, why not add a few more? Racers, Puzzlers, and Party Games -- would get my love. I love Racers, I love Puzzlers, I love Party Games.

Maybe?

I thought about it, but there isn't a ton of traffic on the existing ones.

What's everybody else think?

Yeah theres not enough traffic here to warrant extra subforums. They can just post in the games respective console forum.

I think with some exceptions you should actually merge them all in one. Too much cathegories (and you have been creating a bunch recenly) make it harder to check the new posts as you have to hop from forum to forum. I don't see significative gains in separating them, if the topic title is explicit those that aren't interested can just avoid it, and it is not like even the general section has enough traffic that this would make posts go to the 2nd page without giving ppl plenty of opportunity to see stuff.

Technical support and other such specific forums have a reason to be. Other than that you could just have an "off-topic" forum for the community (for topics not related to retrogaming or even not related to gaming at all), and most other stuff in a Main forum.

But that is just my opinion, I guess. I like to come into the forum and check new postings. Often, having interesting posts spread on different sections makes me lose much more time than "screening" the uninteresting ones in a Main forum would.

The problem being that the topics for these genre forums are not console specific, but will often reference several of them or none.

You can't have categories for everything. This is the way I bookmark the forums anyways, http://www.racketboy.com/forum/search.p ... d=newposts
